My name is Doctor Lolita Palmer. I'm a general surgeon in Roseville, California
for the Sutter Medical Group
I, as a child, was actually in the foster care system for majority of my life and there
were so many people that helped me
get through that process, helped me to go to college and encourage me
to do whatever I wanted and I really wanted to give back.
I became a physician after serving as a counselor
because I really wanted to feel like I had a bigger impact in helping people
and being a doctor was a way of doing that, where I could see the results
right away
Sutter Medical Group, the people were the biggest draw for me
Everyone, I felt, was
genuine, cared about their job, cared about doing the right thing for the
patient. The facilities, on top of that, were excellent. It was the little
things that impressed me. Where patients can come, they are greeted with greeters,
everyday they can't park for free, private rooms. All of those things
make Sutter stand out in my mind and Roseville in particular.
The most rewarding thing that I feel about my job is when a patient comes
back to me and says
"Thank you so much. I feel so much better. I'm really glad I met you." And I can see
that they're going to leave my office a better, happier person then when I first
met them and that reward is something you can't find in most places and I get to
experience that every day here in Roseville.
I like to get out and explore my new home state of california.
I've done some visiting in the wine country, been to Tahoe, and I'm trying to
convince my husband to take dancing lessons so I can finally learned how to salsa
