But now, we're going to meet an artist that is just 18-years-old that has already been praised for her fantastic voice and brilliant music.
Even by the superstar Katy Perry.
[singing] I saw a piece of heaven, waiting impatient for me.
Daa..
And I was running far away.. would I run off the world someday?
Nobody knows, nobody knows..
And I was dancing in the rain I felt alive and I can't complain
But now take me home Take me home where I belong..
[applause] - This is AURORA, ladies & gentlemen!
- Hello, Aurora.
- It's very nice to have you here with us!
It's very nice to be here.
- You're actually 18, from Os, outside Bergen.
Yup.
- And you have a fantastic voice!
[applause] (AURORA bashfully laughing)
- And you've gotten fantastic reviews on your music.
- How does that feel?
It feels alright, it's very handy. But I'm very like.. everything goes so fast!
And I kinda am running after myself, and I'm running quite fast.
- So you never get to catch up?
No, so, I think I'll have a better answer on it in a weeks time.
- Right, so does it feel like an out of body experience?
Yeah, kinda like that.
But it's very handy.
- But you know where you're at right now?
Yeah, now I'm right here.
[laughing] - Thats good, that's good.
- If one were to say, if one were to get to know Aurora, on a personal level..
What interests you? What are you excited for?
No, yeah, so, I collect dead insects.
[audience snickers]
- Okay..
- Like we all do... And what is your favorite insect?
Moths.
- Moths? Moths?!
- How many moths do you have?
Now actually, um, I have one from England.
I brought him home with me from England.
- Is there a difference in them?
..And I've got 2 Norwegian ones.
- What do you do? Do they have to be dead when you find them?
[smack] (Aurora startled) No! no... No.
No, I usually lure them out with sugar cubes and then capture them.
I don't enjoy killing them.
But if I find one. And I found one in England, in the window still while in a meeting.
[sarcastically] - But where, but where... this is interesting...
When you are collecting moths, do you have them in a drawer or in the fridge?
[annoyed] Na, no, I've got them in a tiny glass jar.
- And they're on a shelf, visible?
Ya.
- Is there a big difference between Norwegian and English moths?
No, they're very alike. [audience laughing]
- This sounds very much like "Around Norway" (Norge Rundt) right now.
- "Now we're about to meet a girl that collects dead insects.." [laughing]
- Aurora, it's not only journalists that has bragged about your music
- Katy Perry has become a major fan as well.
- And not too long ago she tweeted the following [Tweet from Twitter]
- What do you think when a person like her likes what you do?
No, well, it's always alright that she, or anyone, likes my music.
But of course, that she wrote about me in front of 66 million followers, is going to make a difference.
It was very nice of her to add a picture and a link. Very handy.
- But as an example, is Katy Perry an idol for you?
NO. [audience laughs]
- She should have know when she posted that.
But, but..
She has done something great! (thumbs up)
- It doesn't fit the music style you like?
No, it's just not my cup of tea, tea. No, no.
- It's not a small cup of moths.
No, it's not.
- But I understand that there is a difference between you two.
- And now it's about the music.
Yes. I listen more to Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen.. more that sort of music.
- When she post things like that, do you notice it?
- Do you get a lot of requests?
Yes, it has had a lot to say.
I would never have gotten this amount of views, I think.
And I've gotten a few followers from Brazil, that is nice.
That's probably because of her.
- They've got a lot of nice moths in Brazil as well.
- But, speaking of Katy Perry, she is very outspoken.
- How are you on the stage? Do you enjoy talking in between the songs, or?
No, not really. I'm... no, no.
- No?
No.
- We heard about a story. You were going to preform at a gala dinner once where it didn't go so well?
Well, I was very tired.
I've just flown over from New York, and the flight took like 100 hours err.. 16 hours.
We then arrived in Os, 10 minutes after we landed, we were on the stage ready to sing.
So I was very tired.
I was just going to, um... people were dressed up in such nice clothes, and we had a symphony behind us.
We're just standing there singing.
And then I got this idea, that I could tell a story, about that I've just been in New York, and it was great to be home again.
I had a plan. I was going to tell them that it was great to be home again, etc.
But I didn't say that, instead, what I thought of when I was in New York was the last thing that happened to me - and it was a toilet experience.
And then, I said: "I did something in a toilet, in New York, that I'm not proud of."
But I tried to correct it and by saying "I did something nasty, no, in the toilet."
It sounded very wrong, and then I had to explain the whole story.
The story was, I went into a toilet, started preparing myself and suddenly I hear:
"Excuse me. Can you go out?" So there was a man..
- On the toilet?
[laughing] That was on the toilet.
[laughing]
- I'll agree with you that this is a weird story.
- You open the little booth..
But it was completely dark, and I'm just getting ready.
And it was a really tiny toilet booth. Suddenly he was just.. there.
- A man?
A man.
- So, you had originally gone into the wrong...
No, it was a toilet for any sex, unisex.
- Are you sure?
- Yes, but why didn't he lock the door? You have to lock.
- There's nothing that gets the party going at a dinner than a real *** story.
- It was a very strange story. It was.
That was what I choose to pick out and tell about.
- But it doesn't matter because you sing like an angel, and make beautiful music. So it doesn't make any difference what you say in between the songs.
No, but it was a bit unsettling.
- You are going to play for us afterwards. And we're so excited, Aurora.
- Thank you all for coming!
- Big applause for the guests!
