It's time to say goodbye to the old patch
I'm on my last week here now.
I've cleaned out the poly tunnel...And there's a JCB on its way!
But before that, I've got some preparing to do on the new patch.
And here it is. This is the new patch.
It looks like a field now. Well, it is a field in fact!
I've already done some work on it.
There's a pond over there for the ducks.
And I've started on the foundation of the poly tunnel.
The vegetables will go here!
The first thing you have to do is mark the land.
I'm going to use some string like this and wood.
Now is the time to decide on the shape and size of the patch.
It's difficult to change your mind once the land has been turned.
That's finished!
The land will now be ploughed.
With this process, it's important to get it right from the start.
I'd be here until next Christmas if I did it by hand!
There's a good texture and colour to the soil as well.
It's a bit darker than at the old patch.
I would have cried if I had to do all this by myself!
The patch started to take shape.
Although, it looked a bit empty without the sheds.
It's strange to see the old patch being taken apart.
It's a surprise how many sheds I collected for the hens over the years.
A JCB and lorry is the answer to moving them!
Oh, and a helping hand from friends and family.
Well, it's crunch time...
I'm not quite sure how this is going to happen!
We'll see...
I'm sure it'll be moved in one piece!
It took me 8 people to move this shed last time.
But it only takes one machine!
That's it! The hardest job is over and done with.
The next challenge is getting it off the lorry, and onto its new foundation!
Cross fingers!
The nerves are starting to kick in now!
This is the last bit...
If anything goes wrong, we won't have a shed for the patch!
The shed came through the gate in one piece.
It looks like it's grown here!
Fantastic!
Finally, time to sit down!
It's been a hard day!
Both sheds are in one piece... And all the chicken coops!
We've worked hard!
And now I look forward to start planting some vegetables!
Excuse me, I'm off for a cup of tea!
