Starfox is definitely one of the black sheep nintendo IPs. Like several other nintendo
franchises, the starfox series really doesn’t get a ton of spotlight, instead taking a backseat
while other groups like Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon tend to get a lot more in terms of
gaming. There’s nothing wrong with those three; they definitely put out some great
games, but I still hold out every time for a new starfox title, and this recent gaming
season, Retro studios has announced a mystery game, one that “everyone wants us to do.”
They’ve been pretty reserved in their information, so this is by no means a confirmation, but
many people, myself included, speculate this title to be a new Starfox game, especially
after the metroid/starfox crossover unfortunately turned out to be just a rumor. The whole point
of this is basically to share my ideas for a Starfox title on the Wii U and my thoughts
on where the franchise should go. So, I hope this gives you a few ideas of your own, I
hope it excites you, especially if the starfox retro speculations turn out to be correct.
So without further ado, here are my ideas for the starfox franchise.
My first suggestion would be to include a campaign style structure in gaming*. Basically,
format the layout like Starfox assault, but much longer. I did love the multiple route
feature shown in Starfox 64 and the original starfox game, but the path system in a lot
of games tends to make for extremely shallow writing for the plot. It has no choice but
to end up like this, because it’s difficult to come up for legitimate motivations for
the same situation leading up to the levels. Lot’s of games that use the same idea with
a morality system end up with pretty superficial motivations and endings, simply because they
have to be that way for multiple instances to lead up to them. To avoid that, Starfox
could use a metal gear format with plenty of gameplay, then cutscenes between to fill
the gaps. (though we don’t necessarily need really long ones, just enough to build the
characters)* though they could still just as easily incorporate multiple ways to complete
a mission without sacrificing the game's depth. but still providing that varied mission style
we came to enjoy.
There are plenty of several underlying themes I’d love to see explored, not to mention
different ways of developing the characters. We could delve into things like:
• Fox’s days in training with the cornerian army, and his building friendship with Slippy
and Bill, not to mention a potential link between bill and slippy. You also have his
relationship with Krystal, which most people will agree became a total trainwreck in Starfox
Command, but I’ll get on that in a minute. Another thing that comes standard is his relationship
with his late father, James MCcloud. I think it would be nice to have this sprinkled bit
by bit throughout the game, then think the best hit for a little bit at the end of the
game, but not a particularly overpowering theme in the game, though i think it would
kind of kill the effect to actually have James appear, not to mention it would make awkward
writing later on. It would be like revealing every bit about the triforce, then having
to worry about the details later on. I think the most relatable persona for fox is the
young, charismatic, only slightly cocky leader shown in starfox 64, just with a bit more
depth in his character*. His personality reminds me a lot of Sly Cooper in that regard, and
I think it would be the best way for Fox to go. It always felt that he knew just how to
connect and communicate with all of his teammates, and he felt like the glue that held them all
together. Another cool idea would be flashbacks showing the founding of the second Starfox
team in 64.On a side note, they need to stop aging the characters. It’s fine that they
make the games continue after each other, but they shouldn’t set specific dates*,
like Adventures being 8 years after 64.and what they have done with Assault. It would
be fine to just say that they take place after the next, that way the team doesn’t keep
aging. • Peppy’s days and the founding of the
original starfox team with James McCloud. We could see things like various missions
with the original team via flashbacks, and even see something like James making Peppy
Fox’s Godfather. It would be cool to see more of his fatherly relationships with fox
and the other characters come out a bit more. I’d also like to see his personal anger
with Pigma fleshed out a bit more, *or even him explaining the origins of the starwolf
rivalry with starfox, as Wolf is shown to have a good deal of knowledge about Fox’s
father. I like the idea more of James’ character being developed more through the memories
of other characters so he doesn’t make the plot awkward through being confirmed as alive,
but he still can be a developed, relatable character.
• It would definitely be cool to explore Falco’s old gang life before joining the
team. I see him as the type to have been a troublemaker, and that he was eventually caught,
possibly by fox. He could easily have the “honorable criminal” type like Sly cooper,
and agrees to fight for a worthier cause as amnesty for his crimes. This would also tell
us more about Katt Monroe and her interest with him. I also would like to see his little
contrast with slippy, even as much as giving him actual compliments at time. I also like
how he has become a bit more laid back in Assault*. He’s still pretty hot headed and
blunt, but he only saves it to knock down arrogant people a peg. This would work perfectly
for characters like panther, where the player wants them to shut the hell up, and Falco
does just that for them. As more a character, I’d love to see the laid back falco that’s
got a bit of distance from the team, but would have the loyalty going beyond anyone else,
even if his life were forfeit. I also like the subtle levels of trust in the team shown
before, like *Fox tasking falco with finishing the corneria mission in assault should he
fail. Shows of trust like that between fox and falco would be amazing to see, and even
a situation where Fox has to let falco take his spot for a while would be great, particularly
towards the end of the game. • I think Slippy’s character could use
a bit of revamping. I like how he’s done in assault, though I think he should no longer
take in the arwings, and focus more on his apparent skill in the landmaster. I do like
his comic relief role, but this way, he can provide that contrast without coming off as
incompetent. I’m also pretty concerned about Amanda, his love interest. I welcome new interesting
teammates, but now that pretty much everyone has some love interest, I hope that it doesn’t
end up being some crappy fanfic, so I imagine they take from Krystal and Fox and learn not
to let things get too mushy. I’d welcome her to the team if that doesn’t become an
overbearing romance. I’ve always hated romances tacked in writing just for the hell of it.*
Next thing, Fox will be leaving Krystal for ROB to explore his Robosexual side. Seeing
Slippy’s new weapon ideas as the game progresses, similar to Q from James bond, would help to
build more of his general character. • Krystal is probably the trickiest character
to fix up. A lot of people suggest a total reboot of the series. I’d like a partial
reboot, but not one that gets rid of Krystal. I think the best way is to leave Krystal back
on the team, but to keep the romance off a bit more between fox and herself. If she joins
Starwolf, then the rivalry, mystery and possible origin of James and Wolf would be lost, not
to mention a love triangle is a tad boring, and would still leave Krystal defining herself
through men. Making kursed would just make yet another “Edgy, emo. boring” character,
and since we already get a more interesting version of that with Katt. Instead, I think
the best thing to do is to keep Krystal on the starfox team, but to have her a bit more
separate from Fox. I think including other female characters in the story to add contrast
and prevent krystal from being the token female. She wouldn’t just be seen as the only woman
if that was done, not to mention she wouldn’t be linked as just a girlfriend to fox. We
could see more of her background as the sole survivor of Cerenia“ and even see direct
use of her telepathic abilities, instead of the implied uses. Oh, and she might get a
bit more respect if she wasn’t dressed as a total ***. I think Rao from okami was one
of the few characters to be used **with heavy sex appeal and still not be remembered as
a ***. Krystal hasn’t gotten there yet, so perhaps something a little less flashy
would do her some good. • , *Make a note “While unconfirmed, Krystal's
reaction when she saw a mysterious figure shortly before being trapped inside the crystal
in the Krazoa Palace implies that Andross may have some part in destroying Cerinia.
It is possible that he did so and left Krystal as the survivor because he needed her power
to use the Krazoa Spirits' power to revive himself (and therefore only needed a different
villain to become powerful enough to invade Sauria in order to get both Fox and Krystal
releasing Krazoa Spirits
• As for the secondary characters, it would be great to see some of the older cast. I
think Dash would be great to have as an understudy with bill, rather than making him the new
villain. Fara, Fay, and Miyu, all unused characters from starfox 2, would make for nice female
characters to contrast with krystal, not to mention some interaction with Katt, though
I think they'd be better as minor characters rather than permanent starfox team members.
I think Fay in particular would be nice as an understudy with Bill, who could form his
own team if he wanted, that or have them as high ranking cornerian members, that way we
can link them in the**plot, as well as bring in another game feature I’ll mention in
a bit.** We also have Amanda and lucy to work with as minor characters. I think Miyu could
be a nice rival or partner to Katt as a partner or something. I know that Katt took on a lot
of Miyu’s characteristics and is basically a modernized version of her, but the two could
still function together as characters quite nicely. Also, a bit off topic, but I’ll
take Bills stereotypical surfer accent and classic design over his southern accent any
day. Just a personal gripe. I think all of them are fine in terms of where they are developed
now. Like I mentioned before, I think it would be nice to see them as supporting characters
to the team, but only members of the starfox team in the way Tricky was made one, so they
wouldn’t tag along for every mission, but they would definitely be willing to lend a
hand when necessary, and that way during the end of the game, there’s a mass war or something
similar calling upon everyone. • I’d also like to see Katt do her own
thing and come in at random like she does in 64 to be closer to falco, keeping her persona.
there was no feeling quite like the one you get when Bill or Katt came in to help you
out when you least expected *play bill and Katt theme* **We could also see Pigma again,
and Oinkenny being a coward as usual. I think we should use the antagonists mentioned that
destroyed cerenia as the new villains. I liked Andross, but it would get old to keep using
him with resurrection. It also locks the game into using that as the main arc, and eventually,
it would quickly lose its edge. You see this in a lot of games: Sly Cooper with Clockwerk,
Mario with Bowser, Zelda with Ganon, and several others. I think if they want to develop an
opposing force more, they do what they’ve been doing, but with starwolf instead, since
they won’t be killed off. Using the Cerenia villains that destroyed Krystal’s old life
would not only fill in the issue the series has with a consistent antagonist, but it would
also give Krystal the perfect opportunity to develop on her own. The plot could use
elements of sly 3: honor among thieves and pull off a huge job at the end that calls
upon the unification of all the teammates. • A simple anti-hero style** could work
well for starwolf, as most of their tension comes from the respect fox and wolf have for
each other. Perhaps wolf wanted to join Starfox with James when he was a newer pilot, and
James was a total *** to him, so it would show that James isn’t perfect, and possibly
give fuel to Wolf and Fox, possibly even giving motivation as to why starwolf was started.wolf
drops several lines implying that he had a history with fox's dad. I could see him as
having a student-teacher relationship, and something happens to have the two fighting,
or that wolf wanted to join him like I mentioned earlier.seeing the new starfox team shows
that fox and wolf were raised in similar circumstances involving James, yet their team's motives
and styles give complete contrast while still sharing strong similarities. Fox basically
embodies all of wolf's past wounds with james, but like james, fox still carries the same
skills and traits that made wolf respect fox in the first place, hence his respect for
fox, his insulting fox when he screws up, and why he wants to resolve his deal with
james and at least bring down his son. It feels a bit cliche, but that's what i see
in Wolf. I could see Leon with his older voice in 64 giving more to his cold nature. It would
also be nice to see why his rivalry is with Falco in particular. I’d actually like to
see Pigma flying solo, going against starfox and starwolf simply for the sake of development.
I’d like to see Peppy take back in the arwings to give more of a writing ploy with that and
the previously mentioned anger about james's betrayal. It would make the team a bit more
interesting than “Panther is the ladies man showoff, and Leon likes killing things
just because.” Something like portraying Panther of more of a graceful killer rather
than just their simple mannerisms, would make the rivalry even stronger, or having the subtle
signs of Leon’s calm, cold demeanor leading to something deeper.
• I could see a “city at war” arc now that andross is dead, from the end of the
first arc and the beginning second arc of the Ninja turtles comics after the defeat
of the shredder. They succeed in defeating the shredder, but in doing so, they bring
up more problems. With the shredder no longer the alpha male of crime in New York, the small
rivaling gangs are all fighting each other for top spot now that they actually have a
chance, hence “city at :War.” The second arc revolved around trying to stop the inner
forces. this could also be perfect for Dash, Andross’ grandson, as his development in
Starfox command could easily lead him to be a hero or a villain, meaning he has the choice
of stopping the gangs, or controlling them for himself, though I think he’d do better
as a hero. It’s a really nice writing concept to acknowledge that there are greater levels
of evil, and that it’s not all centralized in a single being, so everything isn’t a
total happy ending just because you knock off one person. That’s yet another cliche
I see in writing, so this kind of thing would be a nice idea to keep things fresh.
Those are a few of my ideas to keep things fresh in terms of plot and character development.
Nothing incredibly amazing, but I think it would be a step up than what we’ve had before.
It’s hard for the franchise to get good quality because they’ve been handled by
so many different developers. We’ve had Q Games With Command, Namco With Assault,
Rare With Adventures, Nintendo with Starfox 64 (AKA Lylat wars), and Argonaut Software
And nintendo with the super nintendo title. With everyone tossing it around, it’s hard
to ground the characters and develop them properly. So the main focus is going to be
more on ideas and features for the new games.
After reading through a ton of ideas of what people want in a new starfox title, the two
most common things I see are basically an on rails shooter following the footsteps of
Starfox 64, or doing that in a form of a sharpened version of starfox assault. I do like those
ideas, and I think it could go even further than that. I lean more towards the revamped
starfox assault idea, just with even more packed in. I basically see a rails style in
parts, and a big strategy wartime game with RPG influences mixed in with the simple shooter
style. Having simple elements like employing Stealth and Recon, Chasing missions, simple
combat and destruction, and just rails shooting starfox is known for would definitely be a
unique game. • For the story mode, I think a Co-op system
would work out perfectly. Everyone can take the role of different starfox members, each
with their own abilities and objectives. This can be done with multiplayer, or a lone player
can switch roles like in Sly cooper. This prevents one of the biggest issues I have
with the game: other than fox, the rest of the team seems really incompetent since they
always seem to need help. Nothing wrong with covering the teammates or protecting each
other since everyone needs help at some point, but when it gets to this *show clips of help*
it gets really annoying. Falco for instance is supposed to be an ace pilot with skills
rivaling, if not, exceeding that of Fox’s, but that effect is kind of ruined when he
gets chased so often. It’s compensated when he returns the favor, like him rescuing fox
in Fichina, but having the control over all the team would help them all feel even more
professional. You can still have sub-missions that still call for protecting teammates.
For instance, one mission can require one person to fly and take out targets, while
a second person takes out anti aircraft cannons in a tank, and make different enemies weak
to different types of machines and weapons. • To help separate them even more, we can
further play off of Assault and Command and give specific stats to each character, as
well as their machinery. Speed, swimming, Jumping, Health, Arwing Skill, and Landmaster
Skill are a few that come to mind. Unlike assault though, the machine skills would have
more significant influence than just the cursor size. We could also include different things
for the ships like how much health and shielding the machines have, how much of a boost meter
the character gets, the potency of the boosts and breaks, how many bombs they can hold,
possibly the type of laser, and bringing back the multi-lock feature from Command would
be cool. For instance, Falco with a multilock laser in an arwing would make him much easier
to use in the sky than say, slippy, who doesn’t have the same experience. The same thing could
work the other way around in the landmaster though.
• We could put a limit on the blaster to prevent spamming attacks, similar to the stick
game “hold the line” and similar styles. This could fill up differently for different
characters, leading to more importance in who you select. On top of the aforementioned
multilock from starfox command, you could have a way to switch which target you lock
on to when you’ve already locked on to something. **
• We could also include either ingame machine parts from destroyed ships or hidden in the
various worlds to promote exploration, and you get paid for different missions, and you
can use that money to purchase custom powerups for your machines, or teach your characters
different skills. Specific moves might require certain skill levels. We could use this to
do more acrobatic moves in the machines, or have better ground combat moves. Think like
the acrobatic combat moves in Metroid Other M, or the hidden sword skills in Twilight
Princess. For instance, you could make an advanced arwing tactic that the average pilot wouldn’t
be able to perform, so only characters like Fox, Peppy, or Falco could learn it. We could
also use this to improve the surface combat, taking on the idea of basic RPGs, or the thiefnet
from Sly Cooper. It could also be used to buy machine upgrades and new weapons, not
just for the arwings, but also for things like the surface battles or Great Fox. So
you could go back to the style from Area 6 in Starfox 64 where you can use that to have
great fox cover you in battle. Fox has been shown to have martial arts skills, Krystal
is armed in her staff (not to mention telepathic abilities would be a lethal tool in combat),
Falco has probably been in a few scrapes from his gang days, and Slippy...has bombs? So
each member can also develop their own ground fighting styles and keep things pretty diverse.
We could do combat moves or bond time from James bond: all or nothing, or a bit of combat
move styles from metroid other M. If it’s a bit explorational, .with buildings and caves
you can actually run around, similar to most shooters out there, and a bit deeper than
the bit of emptiness we had in Starfox assault, then that would just be incredible.
• On the topic of skills and moves, we could bring back the magnet spin from Starfox Command.
Flying has always been a bit of a pain in 3D games when there’s a specific location
you need to get to, or if you have to collect items. The hit detection with it can usually
be really annoying so as to preserve the realism**, so being able to draw in items would solve
that up pretty quickly. We could also see using the arwings directly, like the move
Falco pulls in fichina. Having more fun with the weapons would definitely be cool. We could
bring back the wing riding gimmick for assault, but make a way to lock a ground character
on the wing so they won’t have trouble with it. We can make features like a “hold on”
way in the one player, allowing the wing rider to have more complexity in what they do, and
also allowing the pilot to not be a sitting duck and still be able to loop and pull off
more dangerous moves. • All the briefing, these customization
functions, and all the other side things could be done in great fox, that way we can see
more of what it looks like, and even possibly see what all the team members’ rooms look
like. It’s just another subtle way of giving depth for everyone. We don’t get to see
much of Great Fox, so it’s just an idea. • On top of the Stealth and Recon, Chasing
missions, simple combat and destruction, and rails shooting I mentioned earlier, we can
take that a bit further. Imagine having an entire level based in Zoness using the same
searchlight idea, and using stealth in the sky and on the surface. We could even bring
back the warp zones that made an appearance in the classic game and in Starfox 64. It
would make the gameplay hard enough to allow the character to use the environment to their
advantage. We can use a similar style to James Bond: everything or nothing, and use specific
forms of scenery as cover, or using sound against you. Basically, have the feel of being
in an actual battle, and having to think things through, and not just mow down enemies all
the time. We could do that through different visors, like in the Metroid Prime games, or
Wolf Link’s senses in twilight Princess. weather effects like Fog, snow, or rain, or
having radar jammers screwing with your map, radar, and communications from the previous
games would be something to think about it. We could also go on a style of the classic
games and allow shooters to switch between first and third person freely. In terms of
shooters, there are plenty of reasons to prefer one over the other, so this way would be able
to satisfy both groups of people. It could also be third person in shooting, then when
you want to aim at a specific target, it switches to the first person.
• That combat style would be pretty fun to work with, especially if characters can
use different field items, like say a rapel to scale and drop down buildings, or a variation
on a grapple beam, or using krystal’s various staff powers. When playing through a rails
mission with multiple players, each player can go off on their own route when there are
forks in the road, allowing more of the area to be explored, and giving more simple individual
bonding in terms of plotting out who goes where.
• It was only a matter of time before this was suggested, but in addition to including
more of great Fox, we can bring back the rare blue marine and bring in water combat. This
would open up more a role* for Slippy and Amanda, as I imagine they would be pretty
experienced in water. It would help with the growing team and give another front to battle
in. Fox has been shown to be a pretty good swimmer, and possibly other members of the
team, so that could be another stat to include, it could make you feel like zora link in Majora’s
Mask. When you’re in the water, Zora link makes you feel incredibly comfortable compared
to the other forms of link, most of whom can’t even function in the water, let alone thrive
in it. You could get the same feel when manning the blue marine as opposed to just swimming.
• One of the biggest things I think starfox could use is more of a strategy element. They’re
mercenaries, and a lot of combat games either focus on being a soldier, or being the general,
but Starfox could bring the two together. You have the sky, the land, and the sea to
work with, and each member could work their way and command each one. Fox can kind of
see over everyone, being the leader, and switch around where he is needed. Falco can command
the skies with the cornerian army, Slippy can take to the seas and run analyses when
needed, and Krystal can lead the surface battles either with the cornerian forces, or even
with the dinosaurs on suaria and command them at need. Her telepathic abilities would be
great for staying in communication with everyone in battle. The idea would be to do a style
where you can use your map to select how you want to distribute your forces. If you need
to defend something, you can concentrate them all in one place, or try and send them out
ahead to protect something at a distance. You only have a limited amount of* resources
of course, so between all three fronts, you only get so much to work with, so you have
to be smart about where you plot your forces. The field can also change up with the situation,
so you have to stay vigilant in not just how many enemies there are, but where their attacks
are focused and what their strategy is. This would allow you to attack even more strategically,
and would be a perfect place for the might gauge from Starfox Assault. The gauge can
show you how dangerous a certain situation is, and your map on the nintablet can be used
to quickly redistribute forces, see a map of the area of course, and get an idea of
where all the enemies and your teammates are with radar. You could even go a step farther
and have generic formations to run them in, like Zelda Four swords, or customize with
your own formations. You could also have the option of going like the tales series and
assigning general roles for your forces, like “Defend” or “protect allies” so you
can keep going without things getting convoluted. On top of all of these, after you beat the
game, you could have the option of playing it again, though from the viewpoint of Starwolf
as kind of a “second story” feature similar to the Point of view development in Sonic
games. The idea is to keep you concerned about multiple targets, like a more advanced version
of protecting the cows in majora’s Mask from “Them.” Employing that kind of protection
factor in a starfox game would be truly amazIng to see.
• The nintablet could use a s**imple control scheme with the buttons, and then implement
screen controls for the maps. The Communication system could go on the nintablet as well as
not to distract the main gameplay, and if you’re in with friends using co-op, you
could use that as your source of communication with each other, while the in-game players
like slippy and peppy come up on the TV screen. You could also go with the Zelda Spirit Tracks
idea and make small notes, paths, and points on the map for you to remember later, and
can have buttons on the side to quickly switch interfaces, that way the map isn’t jumbled
with enemies all over the place, but the game screen on the TV isn’t either. The idea
is to keep you busy with several elements hitting you all at once, which is what war
is like, in essence. Because of such a convenient mapping system, the developers are also free
to make larger overworlds without the downside of getting lost in them. It would also allow
for all the exploring elements without the annoying part of the level being so large
that you feel aimless as opposed to just lost. • My last few ideas lie in the multiplayer.
I put in a ton of time in Starfox Assault, so I like the basic idea of that being redone
using these ideas. You could just do a simple battle of “pick a starfox character and
just kill each other,” but you could also do basic ideas of gameplay, like using the
strategy shooter and commanding a cornerian army with the goal of destroying all of your
opponent’s forces, or each player having a base they must protect using their forces
and trying to outsmart your opponent. Perhaps making a custom level maker using the simple
map style from Starfox Assault and a blend with Super Smash brothers brawl (though in
3d) would be a nice, though potentially complicated idea. On top of that, the wifi feature would
work wonders in multiplayer battle mode, not just the story mode, seeing as we get the
beneficial social aspect with friends absent in so many games lately, but because Nintendo
will likely be careful in their moderation considering their audience, we won’t have
as big an issue with annoying loser kids like you do with the Xbox and a Ps3. They could
also take a page out of Super Smash Brothers Brawl’s book and allow you to select which
music track plays on a stage. Nothing huge, but still another* nice little extra.
• Those are all the ideas I have for now, but if I come up with anything new or see
nice suggestions in the comments, then I’ll include them in this blank section, giving
due credit to other people’s suggestions, of course. If you want to skip to the conclusion,
then just click the link since the annotation won’t necessarily have anything in it. If
you just want to listen to the music , then go right ahead.
Annotation section, 1 minute
Fans have taken matters into their own hands before, as evidenced by the huge number of
fangames out there, but our skills might not prove as helpful for a shooter style like
Starfox. Trust me, I would’ve done this myself if I had the necessary talent. I’ve
done a few games myself, but let’s be real, I’m not that great at it, and certainly
not capable of pulling off stuff like this for a game, so let’s hope Nintendo steps
it up. I think they have lots of talent and are certainly great at what they do, but I
can only handle so many mario, Zelda, and Pokemon titles before wanting to see something
new and fresh. It doesn’t seem all that fair to give it less attention if one of the
biggest reasons the games suffer are because of the developers. Focusing on the other franchises
a bit more and backing off will give them more time to develop fresh ideas for the others,
so it wouldn’t be the less popular franchises like Starfox getting in on the benefit here.
• I really do hope that Nintendo will do their less popular IPs some more justice instead
of just milking the main ones over and over. Especially considering how popular shooters
are in the current gaming age, Starfox seems like the perfect answer for Nintendo, showing
that you can still put a great deal of depth in these games without them all seem the same.
It would also open the floodgates for the less popular titles, and lead them to their
own forms of creativity. Let’s not forget what a wonderful benefit a new title would
be for the Starfox Franchise. It’s definitely lost some of its former glory, and it really
needs something good and new to solidify its footing in the gaming world. So I hope this
inspired you in some way, and if it somehow influences any developer to take on such a
project, that would be even cooler. If you have any suggestions to add, want clarification
on something, or have anything else to share, please don’t hesitate to comment. Starfox
is one of my most favorite franchises, not to mention bringing some of the earliest games
I ever played, and I don’t want to see it die off into obscurity.
