Tom Brady snaps at reporter who asks a question he wants nothing to do with
Tom Brady has always done a great job at avoiding unwanted pressure in the pocket by simply sliding to his left or right, stepping up to avoid a rush or just throwing the ball away.
But how would New Englands star quarterback react to a reporters question that he wanted nothing to do with? Would he give an honest, thoughtful response to the question or would he follow the lead of his coach and mumble a generic answer?
We found out Friday as the New England media wasted no time in grilling Brady about the Patriots decision to revoke access to his trainer, Alex Guerrero.
The first answer Brady gave was in response to a reporter asking him what impact Guerreros no longer being on the sideline would have. Brady responded that hes not really thinking about Guerrero when he plays and hes just focused on winning a game.
Then that reporter asked how Brady reacted when Bill Belichick told him he would restrict Guerreros access. Thats when the salty Brady came out and the QB started to play defense.
I dont really agree with your question, so I dont know what youre talking about, he said. How do you know what he said?
In regard to the report possibly being false, Brady said, Im not saying anything. I mean, how do you say that he said anything? You dont know anything about that.
He was then asked about Belichick never telling him about removing Guerrero from the sideline or team plane.
Well, I have a lot of conversations with him. Those are private between he and I, and I dont think anyone knows what we talk about, he said. Certainly Ive never talked about it. Hes never talked about it.
Overall, Brady was asked 10 questions during his podium session and six of them in one way or another dealt with Guerrero, including each of the first four questions.
Even Rob Gronkowski was thrown some Guerrero questions as Gronk is one of the other Patriot players who visit with the trainer. The tight end was asked how Guerreros restricted access is affecting his preparation. He said it hasnt.
Just as Brady was predictably tight-lipped about the Guerrero situation, Gronkowski was as well.
In fact, he was much more expansive in talking about possible revenge from his hit on the Bills TreDavious White than he was discussing the reports on Guerrero. The Patriots play Buffalo on Sunday.
Before Brady and Gronkowski held their media session, Belichick had his time at the podium. He downplayed any thoughts of friction between himself and Brady and touched on the working relationship between the two.
Hes great to work with. Nobody is more prepared than Tom, Belichick said. Tom is always ready to go, always on top of it. He really takes coaching well. He has a lot of good ideas. The Patriots can clinch home-field advantage throughout the playoffs with a win over Buffalo and losses by both Pittsburgh and Jacksonville. If just one of those teams loses and the Patriots win, then New England will clinch a bye with a chance to clinch home field in Week 17.
