Hello, my name's Evan Gilroy, I'm from Meaford Ontario, I went to Georgian Bay Secondary
School and I am currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Bio-Resource Management program
at the University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus. I chose Ridgetown Campus because it's a small
community based environment and I came from a small community myself. The BBRM program
has a very small class size which allows you to interact with the teachers much more. You
get a lot more one-on-one experience, more lab time, and also you get to go on excursions
off-campus which allows you to look further into research. We have several classes which
involved lab time. This is the lab in which we study Biology, Microbiology, and Environmental
Monitoring. Over the past two semesters I have been enrolled in Biology 1040 as well
as Biology 1060. These courses involve Dr. Darren Robinson, an amazing instructor who
loves what he does. He interacts with the students on a day to day basis further than
any instructor would be expected. Ridgetown Campus has many extra curricular activities
in which you can indulge when you don't want to be studying. But at the same time there's
a very peaceful and nice library in which you can get to your work and get things done.
Field studies in my program have made the learning experience much more desirable as
we can attach what we're learning into a real life situation. Ridgetown Campus has allowed
for a very good transition from High School to University Life. Although we have small
classes and I am looking forward to University life at Guelph.
