Todd Hartley: These are Dr. Harness’s 15 questions that are available to any of you.
If you like to go to the website, download it, print it out, bring it with you when you
meet with your physician. It will help you really sunder yourself on what the most important
topics of discussion are.
Dr. Harness, what do you think about that?
Jay K. Harness, MD: Well I think that that’s a great suggestion Todd. What I tried to do
with that list was to break it down into the basic information you need to know about your
own diagnosis – that’s number 1. Keeping copies of records and knowing what your stage,
knowing as much as you can about your own disease.
The second part then were typically in this day and age, patients have options for the
treatment of breast cancer and to give patients an outline and give people/folks an outline
of the kinds of options that they should be discussing, and then most importantly, learning
as much as you can about your own team, and if that team isn’t good enough then find
any one that is.
What warms my heart Todd, I have got patients coming to see me brand new, not only the 85%
of patients Google me before they walk through the door but now I have got them walking through
door with some
of my own questions. It’s wonderful.
