Emergency here it is a fast paced because we have non-emergency problems which can be
managed very quickly. St.Louis agent care was founded when I saw a need for a quick
non-emergency medical care. People dont plan on being sick. People want to come in and
be seen quick, they want to get their medicine, they want to go home. Before we used the ipad
we were using an old fashion style clipboard and the big frustration for me was going back
to my desktop trying to keep everything in my head and typing it all up. Obviously there
is going to be some information lost plus its frustrating for both the patient and the
physician to limit the time together and so whenever we are sitting in from of the patient
its with the iPad and DoctorChrono which is the electronic medical record or EMR solution
that we have chosen. With Dr. Chrono we can do everything from seeing the triage note,
conducting the history in physical all the way down to discharging the patient and emailing
them the discharge summary of what happened that day . With Dr, Chronos we can show them
their X-ray, we can put images on it, we can show them some lab values. When im entering
data into the Dr.Chrono template on the iPad, im able to do it a lot faster because a lot
of the time im not free texting, im just tapping into a dropdown menu. A lot of physicians
are using are used to giving dictation. The advantage of Dr.Chrono is voice to text, the
iPad is able to show exactly what you are saying. Another function with Dr.Chrono on
the iPad is being incredible. Forms are loaded by zip code, forms for the pharmacy has being
very succesful. we not just have access to Dr.Chrono, we got access to a whole galaxy
of software, much of which could be used to help the patient understand what the problem
is. Changing from a paper based system to an iPad based system we eliminated the scanning
and copying. We have also eliminated legible tier issues. we have also made it easier for
us to have all the documentation in our hands with every patient we have ever seen. iPad
just expedites our jobs. We are spending more time taking care of the patient and less time
typing and documenting. In all practices we have tried life easier for the patients and
get them in and out as quicly as possible so that they can get bac home or back to work.
An iPad is actually essential to achieve that goal.
