Hey there my natural ladies and gentlemen on youtube! This is WillsGirl2005 and Im just
coming to do a video really quick today about my hair textures. Now I will be natural 3
years this coming December, and I am still learning about my hair. Im finding that hair
is like marraige, the longer you are together, the more you learn about one another, and
thats how I feel about my natural hair. The longer Im natural, the more I learn about
my hair. I thought I knew my hair, but I dont. So I just wanted to come and show my hair
in the raw- semi raw, because I do have leave in conditioner in it. Show my hair before
its detangled. Now when I did my twist out I noticed... I already knew that I had different
types of hair like this...where does that come from? thats a whole different texture
than that hair there. Then I have some smaller coilies in the back. You know, so, Im already
aware of those, because thats where my problem issues are- I cant be as rough on this hair,
as I am on this hair, or this hair back here. But Im finding out that I have two slightly
different textures of hair, on THE FRONT OF MY HEAD! Now, before I put extra conditioner
on my hair you could probably see it. I get major, major shrinkage on this side, my hair
is the same length, across the top. But, this hair over here shrinks up, more than this
hair over here. This hair over here is hanging, its got a little, you know, movement. what
is that doing? That right there, that aint doing nothing. And Its slowily going up. As
it dries, Its gonna go up. whereas this side stays a little looser. So when I did my twist
out, this side kept definition, while this side would shrink and puff, and turn into
an afro. So that just shows that there are different textures of hair on my head. There
are few people with the same texture all over. So thats what Im learning about my hair. I
took a fe close up shots of my hair before and after detangling, so, Ill probably show
that to you. Can you see that curl? Its totally different than this right here. Its like,
I just have a lot of different things going on on this head. Looking at my hair and discovering
my different hair textures has really made me think about back when I used to have a
relaxer. I was relaxed since 5th or 6th grade. My hair was sooo thick. And my mom used to
always say I had broccoli ends. Which I do when my hair dries, the end just naturally
just clump up and they look like a head of broccoli. And my hair was so thick, and it
was hard to manage and it hurt when it was combed. Back then we didnt have much more
than royal crown, curling wax, water, and creme or nature to tame natural hair. So,
everybody was getting a perm and I wanted a perm too.So my mom went ahead and permed
my hair. Back when I first started getting perms, I got a PCJ. Those are like, really
kiddie perms, it wasnt getting fully straight. It wasnt being professionally done, so, it
didnt cause that much damage. When I got into the profession and learned how to use relaxers
and get the hair straight. I always, always, always, always had problems with breakage
in my crown area., Right back here, my hair would eventually break off, it would grow
back and break. I spent many of those years in braids and things like that trying to get
that hair to grow back, or take a break from getting a perm, so my hair would grow back. But
I never understood why. I thought it was because it was something I wasnt doing right with
my hair. I took care of other peoples hair, but I must be lazy with my hair and thats
whats causing it to break off. But now I see that, the reason i had problem with breakage
all those years is because I just had different textures of hair on my head. I used the strongest
perm out there. Back then we used Affirm or Dudley- I love both of those relaxer lines. But
I used the strongest thing they had to straighten my hair, because of the more coarse areas
. Like this here- that back there- this over here. But this part up here, that finer stuff,
was just getting abused and misused trying to straighten out the rest of it. It couldnt
handle it, so after so many times of relaxing it, whether I conditioned it or not, it would
just break off. So now I understand what was going on, now that Im natural. And I still
experienced breakage, because of treating my hair the same allover. I know thats what
the problem was all along. So Im learning- little bit by little bit. I still have an
itching problem- when I get stressed out I scratch, and then I get lil areas that look
like that from...digging. So Im paying attention to that to, so that I dont incur a large area
of damage like I did before..Im learning, Im learning, and thats gonna be apart of every
natural lady and gentlemans journey with their hair. Examining the different parts of your
hair and treating it according to the texture it is in that area. Today I just shampooed
my hair- I normally co-wash, but I shampooed it today because I have used shampoo in about
4-6 weeks and Ive been alot of puffs. I actually wore a twist out two weeks in a row, Ill be
doing a video on that very soon, if I dont post it before this video. So I wanted to
do a light shampoo- I used my oyin handmade grand poo bar- its supposed to be sulfate
free, it kinda gently cleans your hair. Since Im trying to do the silcone free, CG, sulfate
free stuff , thats the shampoo that I chose to use. I used it in the past and it worked
well with my hair. So thats all I did to my hair, I did put a little bit of tresseme naturals
condiitioner- Im using the aloe vera and avocado nourishing moisture one. I like it pretty
good, it does well with detangling and tahst all I have on mmy hair. ( before detangling)
When I shampoo or co wash my hair, I dont ring the water out, for some reason I feel
like when I leave the water in there out of the shower, it keeps my hair very moisturized. My
hair is very naturally dry, so I just leave all the water in there, and I slather on my
conditioner. I put my leave in on before I get out of the shower, and then I proceed
to section it for detangling. My breakage spots are growing, Here and here were my breakage
areas and they are growing and thickening up, so Im glad about that. I have not yet
attempted a wash and go- well I have attempted a wash and go, and I didnt like it. But, Ive
been looking at YouTube at some other techniques that other people with type 4 hair have tried
and Im getting a little inspired to give it a try. So one of these days Im gonna get up
really early like 4 am and try to do a wash and go. If I dont like it hopefully it will
be dry by midday, and if I dont like it then I can wash it out and do a style. ( laughs)
or put it up in a puff or something like that. This is my hair, before it is detangled. Type
4 hair. All of that is in there- A, B, C, D, E and F, is up in here. Thats what Im working
with. I will be back with a styling video, and Ill see you guys soon, smooches!
