bjbj [Music] >> Patty: Hi, everyone! I m Patty the Parking Pal. I work with UNC Charlotte
Parking and Transportation Services, and I m here to make sure you know everything about
parking on campus. I m here with Rebecca the Resident. >> Patty: So Rebecca, you re living
in Moore Hall this year. >> Rebecca: I sure am, and I m so excited! >> Patty: Ordinarily,
students living in the high rises would park in Lot 8. But this year, they re building
a new deck. So students living in the high rises will park in North Deck. >> Rebecca:
Oh, well where is North Deck? >> Patty: Getting there is easy. We just need our map, and our
Everything You Need to Know about Parking on Campus guide! North Deck is across campus,
but I m going to show you how to get there. So let s go! >> Patty: Oh, no! >> Rebecca:
What is it? >> Patty: Looks like we have a visit from Trevor the Trickster. He s always
trying to park illegally and sneak out of parking citations. [Music] >> Patty: The lot
in front of Moore and Sanford is for MSU Permits only. >> Rebecca: What do we do? >> Patty:
We need to write him a citation. >> Patty: Trevor, no tricking. >> Trevor: What? >> Patty:
Only special permits are allowed in this lot. >> Trevor: Mine s not special enough? >> Patty:
No. I m writing you a citation, you have to take it to Parking Services to pay it. >> Trevor:
Oh, man. >> Patty: Sorry you had to see that. We do have a lot of people who violate parking
regulations on campus. Let s go to North Deck now. [Music] [Pause] >> Patty: We re in North
Deck now! This is where you ll park as a resident living in the high rises. This is one of our
safest and most lit decks on campus. So if you look at the map, you can see how far we
are from the high rises to North Deck. >> Rebecca: Wow, that s really far. And that walk seemed
to take a long time. I m not sure if I m up for that very often. >> Patty: Well, it is
about a 15 minute walk, if you re walking at a normal pace. But it s not so bad. There
is a shuttle service dedicated just towards taking you from North Deck to the high rises,
and that runs from 8am to 2am, seven days a week. So it s not too bad. >> Rebecca: Hmmm,
I m beginning to re-think having my car on campus. What other options do I have? >> Patty:
Let s go see! >> Patty: Trevor, no tricking. >> Trevor: What? >> Patty: You can t park
in the hash marks. >> Trevor: Ugh, I really didn t think you d notice. >> Patty: That
s gonna set you back $50. >> Trevor: Oh, man. >> Patty: Have a great day. >> Patty: Many
freshmen don t bring their cars on campus. It can be really tough with the deck situation.
But keep in mind, many schools in North Carolina don t even allow freshmen to have their cars
on campus. We do have a great car-sharing program called Hertz on Demand. The program
allows drivers 18 and older to rent cars at a low rate, and membership is free for the
first year. >> Rebecca: Wow, that sounds like a great program! Where can I find out more
information? >> Patty: You can look at our guide, Everything You Need to Know About Parking
on Campus, or you can go on our website, pats.uncc.edu, or you can call or stop by the office anytime.
>> Rebecca: Wow, that sounds great! I ll have to look into that. >> Patty: Now that you
ve seen North Deck and learned about our car-sharing program, there s just a few more things you
need to know. To purchase your permit, you need a 49er card, vehicle registration, driver
s license, and proof of insurance. Remember, parking enforcement begins on the first day
of class. So be sure to buy your permit early, online. When issued a citation, pay within
ten days, and you only have to pay half price. >> Rebecca: Thanks for everything, I can t
wait to start school this fall. >> Patty: No problem, good luck. Bye, everyone! [Music]
