Interviewer: Do you think it's come out that [inaudible 0:00:04]?
Kevin Williamson: Yeah, she's going to come back in a limited way.
Interviewer: A limited way. Was that always your plan, or how malleable
[inaudible 0:00:10]?
Kevin: We gave up a little clip at Comic Con today, and we showed the
true ending of the season, which we held back on for air. You'll see it in
the very first episode of this season, you'll see the outcome. So, yes, she
will appear. What's really great about our show is, we're going to push
forward a year and what we always do in our show our is flashbacks. So
there will be a lot of opportunity that we'll see her. She won't be in this
whole season. I just don't want to get anyone's hopes up.
Interviewer: It's hard to imagine Ryan Hardy as a happy, sunny person.
Kevin Bacon just said though, we will be seeing a lighter side to him, in
some sense.
Kevin: Well, he won't be singing Almost Paradise or anything, but he
definitely is... It's a year later, and some of the things he's dealt with,
he's recovered a little bit, and he's in a different place, and he's sort
of rebuilt his life. He says happy and I just say hopeful. Actually, this
is a guy who had no... it was all darkness, and he had a death curse. And
now, here he is a year later and he's absolutely found hope and a reason to
live. And of course, bad stuff starts happening. How will he deal with it,
and can he do it differently than he did last year? It's just sort of
peeling him away, and diving deeper into his character. And we're going to
do that with all the characters, actually.
Interviewer: And the show will get darker and scarier, you said. So my
final question, I guess, is, how is that possible?
Kevin: Oh, well, I think the show can get darker and scarier. We've
got some new villains we're bringing in, and we've got a couple of new
followers. The end of the season was the end of Joe Carol's book. That's
how he wanted his book to end. The villain got killed by the hero, and
that's just the way he wanted that book to end, and of course, he's got an
epilogue, and that is what we're going to see in Season two. And it's just
exciting because we're going to reset the show, push forward a year later.
Ryan is out of the FBI and he's living his life, and he's in a whole
different world. And yeah, he's a little lighter. There's that sarcasm and
that cynicism that comes from a traumatic life, and we'll see him with a
new persona.
