everybody thanks for checking out this new audiotape bid entitled mixing music
wonderful one
this is going to be a series and everything you guys
it's going to include
they respond
that you can put to use
practical tips basic tips about mixing that will hopefully help you guys get
better mixes in your recordings so let's get started
tip number one
when you're mixing vocals
you don't want to make sure vocals to allow lines that
nixon is all about balance right you're trying to change the perfect balance
between all the various elements letter inside your mix
with its instruments but it's vocals very case may be
that could make sold-out cheating
good balance so with regards to vocals you don't want the vocals to be too high
in the mix relative to all the other instruments that you have in your next
why is that because obviously if the vocals and to allow yet you'll be able
to hear them quite well but all your backing tracks will now be drowned out
and you'll have that twenty mins
they need to have in order to cut through the other thing is you don't
want the vocals to be way too low and indecipherable
why is that well because if the vocals away too low
then the rest your trek security cars in your drums organs so we need to level
and in some cases eat that might be what you want okay these are general rules of
some that i'm giving you but in some cases like an indie music let's set anne
music often times you will find the instrumentation nss
are mixed louder limit locals
and me personally i think alot i just simply because of the lead vocalist can
sing but that's a whole other story
anyway so that's good morning tech number two mixing music
base drums snares
your lead instruments and your vocals when you're pinning jill speaking
you want to pay in these
dead center
they don't have to be that way but generally speaking they should be paying
in the center
then let's talk about painting when you're working with departure drums lead
vocals
and your mix doing speaking you want to pan these
instruments and those lead vocals dead center
that's the general rule from here on the final next on list is
base when you're recording base when you're mixing base
udall
want to drown out your base with the whole lotta reverb because if you do
that
you put on some long reverb senior mix onto your base giving it a real ugly in
a real muddy sound see one of what did that
another tip about planning when you are mixing music
using
ambient stereo mikes and close mike's
you want to pan those close mike's than natural acoustic position what i know
that let's say if you're recording an unsolvable
with stereo mike
and the single mike
that's placed on a flute let's say
which you want to do is span that channeled towards the same geographical
position that's what i mean when i see merengue same geographical positioning
where the flu desist so that way if u boost the sound it appears to be coming
from the correct position
in the next with the flu this was positioned at or we're whatever else we
were talking about here
same thing applies
when you're my king of junkets a mike wanna high hat should be paying and to
the same place
where that high had appears
on the overheads
so those are five quick
basic tips you guys can produce right now
and you're mixing and hopefully these tips will help to bring you guys
some better mixes in the process
anyway that's all for now comeback and checkout the next part in this series of
mixing one-on-one
thanks for tuning and mixing musicthanks alot
