Our client came to us looking for an inexpensive way to make their street lights
dark skies friendly.
Their dark skies complaint lighting upgrade was several years down the road.
There were over 200 fixtures with slightly varying globe diameters which complicated the issue.
Our client had looked into a cap from a manufacturer that was expensive and ineffective.
We ran some tests and came up with a solution to cover the top half of the existing global
with a durable sunlight resistant bed liner.
We designed and built a one-of-a-kind template that would work on varying diameter globes
and have built-in levels to ensure a level edge.
We applied several coats of the bed liner.
We turned on the street light because the heat from the light
expedited the drying process and helped us locate eliminate any light trespass.
Our client and residents were very pleased with the results.
The effect to the remodeled globe can only be seen at night.
This photo illustrates the effective of the remodeled globe.
The fixture on the right has the original globe,
it illuminates the building including under the roof line.
The remodeled globe on the left casts no direct light on the building.
The light on the street and sidewalk are unaffected.
