My name is Conrad Schumacher I'm a professional grub rustler and knowledge wrangler and i am trying to
be a better teacher
in the capstone teaching art and social change
the whole class is basically
centered around this question
um... when if ever we're not responsible for
one and other one of the things that students can expect to learn is that there's a better
way to educate and to be educated
and giving students a chance to really look at the way that they've been
educated
to think about what works and what doesn't
in a classroom or any system
that you can have power over people or you can have power with people
and i'm really trying to get us to look at how would education be different if we
acknowledge these two things the power is in the room with all of us and
the wisdom is in the room with all of us
one of the big pieces of the senior capstone is community involvement
another big piece is group work. The students work together in groups to develop
lessons that they take in and they teach to
uh... students in 7th and 8th grade classrooms based on social responsibility usually
through art
at the end our community engagement pieces we work at
a school called centennial learning center where I also teach
we come in and we work with students in the 7th and 8th grade classroom
we teach them lessons about art or through art
that how to affect society
