So there's something called Honors experiences and these are just different...you just have
to get credit for doing different things that are above and beyond what most kids would
do. So for example there's Honors seminar classes and these can be regular classes,
but the teachers are either really good or they just add a little something extra to
the class to kind of push you into that Honors area. There's other ways that you can earn
experience credit. One example is that I went on an Alternative Spring Break program to
the Dominican Republic and there a group of Honors kids we worked with little Dominican
children teaching them English. So Engineering is pretty popular here at UB. So popular in
fact that we have a whole week dedicated to Engineering. Each day within the Student Union,
there are various activities going on dedicated to the various fields of Engineering whether
it be a battle bots competition on Friday, or seminars on Thursday, or other events on
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. This week really brings out the best in Engineering within
the Engineering students. Last summer I had an internship. As an Accounting major you
know, we are always, well School of Management students in general, we are always looking
to get internships because that is what companies are looking for. So last summer, I actually
with the help of the Honors College secured an internship with a local grocery store in
their corporate accounting department. Here with the Honors College, I also engage in
some extracurricular activities. I am in the special interest housing which means that
on my free weekends if I have a few extra hours, I go and I volunteer at the local Buffalo
Museum of Science and that's been amazing. I got to meet tons of different kids and play
with them and get to know the local Buffalo area as I am not actually from around here.
I am from near Woodstock so it's been great to get out and see the area.
