Hi, i'm Eyal Gelder at Kilombo.co.il
Almost 4 years after Native Instruments released it's first controller Kontrol X1, arrives the second edition - Kontrol X1 mk 2.
Kontrol X1 mk2 is a major improvment of the first edition.
Although the main layout keeps the same lines with the original one, There are few diferences that we will review today
and we will produce a full tutorial in the near future.
The upper section still contains 8 knobs and 8 back-lit buttons which all together aim to control Traktor's effects, single or grouped
When loading traktor you can easily choose which decks to control, whether it's A and B or any other configuration you like.
We will keep it as A and B for this video, click the encoder - and you are ready to go !
The bottom section of the new X1 is not much different than the original. a total of 16 back-lit rubber buttons,
The transport buttons Cue and Play are bigger, they are finger sized now, and much more comfortable than the original X1.
another new thing to point at is the specified Flux button which toggles the Flux mode on and off for each deck.
the upper side of this section contains access to 4 cue points, the buttons will change it's color for different type of cue point
after looking at the top section and the bottom section, it's time to have a look at the center smart section of the new X1 mk 2.
3 encoders, one for each deck which allows changing the size of auto-loops, and also easily controlling Beat Jump, along with shift button
Browsing and loading, and turning the effects on and off. Note that the Browse encoder is a single one,
which allows entering Browse mode by touching it ! leaving this encoder will get Traktor to normal mode again
This is genius, it is smart, it is simple and very user friendly !.
To demonstrate the next new ability, let's load one track for each deck, and introduce you to the new Touch Strip.
the touch surface which allows searching for new cue points, in a very easy and precise way.
I can search for a point and save it using one of the cue bottons, I can control on the left and right decks,
I can also use pitch bend with the touch strip, also change it's range and also
get visual feedback with those small leds about the phase meter, and make my mix perfect also using the visual feedback.
Kontrol X1 mk 2, like all of NI controllers, can control on any midi software, like Ableton live, Serato Scratch Live, or virtual dj.
So, you can use the Kontrol X1 mk2 on any midi software, but of course it was "born" for Traktor Pro 2 and works with it
Like I said before, this is only a first overview on this controller, and in the near future we will produce a full tutorial about Kontrol X1 mk2
The new controller by Native Instruments.
hope you enjoyed this video. goodbye.
