My philosophy on this is that
you really have to do the basic things right
before you can start
doing more innovative
activities on
the environment.
And the basics really is
reduce,
reuse and recycle.
One of the basics of being environmentally friendly is segregating
your waste.
So here at APB, we're separating our waste cans, waster wood, waste paper and
waste plastic
to be collected and sent for recycling
and this is one of the first things that we did.
Many people in Singapore will be familiar
with our crates
that you see in our outlets.
These crates are returnable
and bottles inside are returnable so we send the beer
out to our consumers then we collect back the bottles and the crates, and we wash the
bottles, we wash the crates. We refill them with beer and we send them out again.
So to give an example,
the familiar blue tiger crates, most of these are more than fifteen years old already.
This was a project that we did about two years ago and
traditionally our packaging materials were supplied to us,
wrapped in two layers of carton
and what we did, we reintroduced this plastic box system
so our supplier sends the packaging material to us in the plastic box. We
use the material and then we return the box to them to be reuse, and this cuts
down on our use of carton in packaging.
Here you'll see our packaging materials being supplied to us on the pallet with a layer pad dividing.
These cans are being supplied to us for filling with beer
and then on this side, you can see
that we recollect again the materials the are used for delivery and we return
to the supplier for those to be reused. S here you see the layer pad at the top,
here are the pads you see, in between the different layers of cans
and the pallets, all are return for reuse.
