Every single interaction you have with someone
whether it be the secretary who checks you in for that interview to the person that's interviewing
to anyone you pass in the hall.
If you're sitting down for an interview, and you're waiting to be interviewed
remember that the folks passing by could be your interviewers boss. It could be the CEO of the company.
Communicate clearly why you're here. Why you want this job.
and in addition what do you know about the company.
No matter how important or not important you think an interview is
if you're going to present yourself for a career in a professional setting
you need to make sure that you're representing yourself well.
People who are well rounded that are thinking beyond themselves in the position.
We look for flexibility, we look for people that have good work ethic.
Are they a leader?
Is this a leadership position that we're looking for someone that needs to direct people.
Someone with great personality because in my line of work you will be dealing with the public.
I would say you need to be honest with those.
and there's not always a bad or right answer, it just tells us if this is the right fit.
A well prepared response will answer my question, but not reveal any more information than you need to.
A first impression is in three seconds and it's obviously the attire.
That doesn't mean someone has to walk in with a suit and tie,
but if they take themselves seriously, then the employer and me are going to take them seriously.
When you go in, go in looking as polished and as professional as you can.
Do a little homework and find out what the current employees are wearing.
Take that protocol and step it up a notch.
