Hi my name is Virgil Black and I am here at Ramp Riders Skate Park, on behalf of Expert
Village. In this clip I'm going to explain how actually getting on to a Smith Grind.
Once again I talked about the approach. You want to have a nice slight angle, that way
when you are actually hopping on to the ledge you are not trying to hop sideways into it.
You want to have a nice approach, nice slight angle. The bunny hop, basically you are going
to lift up, high enough to basically get your peg on to the ledge, you don't want to get
too high up, otherwise it's going to make you slam your front peg down which will definitely
do some damage to the wrists and it will kind of hurt. So you want to definitely hop high
enough to put your front peg down. As you're bunny hopping you are putting your front peg
down at the same time you are lifting your back tire up and getting it into the Smith
Grind position, which is basically front peg down on the ledge and back tire basically
riding across the top. The way this grind will actually work is you'll be grinding as
you can see you'll be moving forward the tire actually slides closer and closer to the edge
of the rail on the opposite of which you are actually grinding. The whole key to this trick
is to actually pop out of the trick before you get to that point, but before you actually
land the trick you have to work on your balance.
