What up youtube. Topaz Yates back with another album review. This time to Rittz Top of the
Line and if you are going to buy an album this year then this is the one. hus far I
have enjoyed albums like he Flatbush Zombies and Dubb but this is by far the best. Unless
something great drops this year then odds are this will atleast be top 2 by the end
of this year. Starting with the intro / title track Top of the line. This comes off as his
thesis for this album where he says he is the top brand of emcee right now. He doesn't
throw shots because as he says later in this album that he would love to do songs with
these more popular musicians to continue to build his brand. Yet it is difficult to listen
to the commercial industry as it is and not claim he is superior. Next I love that Until
we meet again. Here he touches on social issues but the main thing I want to talk about is
how he talks about white supremacy. White supremacy is such an evil system that many
people feel bad about it but hardly speak out. So I am happy to see both he and Yelawolf
talking about it even as David Banner called them out. Inside the Groove was that super
smooth / player music that meshes so well with his style. This is where his production
stands out with the live musicianship and how it has been quality for not only this
whole album but his whole career. Knight in Shining Armor or KISA some may look at that
like some super save a hoe track but not really. This is a story about a woman who had terrible
relationship after relationship but she is someone who he could build around. You can't
take a hoe and make her into something else but there is nothing wrong with build around
a woman of value. Back
to Yesterday was a story that spanned over 5 years before he
was who he is now. Back then things weren't popping for him so he put in the work to make rap work
but that strained his relationship.
