The Christmas preparations are in full swing at the White House, where First Lady Melania
Trump unveiled the executive residence’s gorgeous holiday decorations on Monday.
She also welcomed schoolchildren to her home to kick off the week, and when a young boy
spotted her in the halls of the White House, he uttered five incredible words after seeing
what she was wearing.
Melania has wasted no time in ushering in the Christmas holiday at 1600 Pennsylvania
Avenue.
Within just hours of her return to Washington, D.C., from Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida,
where the First Family spent Thanksgiving together, Melania released a one-minute video
on social media showing the gorgeous transformation the White House had undergone in preparation
for Christmas.
“The decorations are up!” the first lady captioned the short but breathtaking clip.
“The White House is ready to celebrate!
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and joyous holiday season!”
Melania added.
Many have noted what a nice change this is from the Obama White House, where you were
unlikely to hear anyone utter the words “Merry Christmas.”
The festivities continued to unfold on Monday, according to CBS News, as Melania welcomed
local schoolchildren to the East Wing for some garland making.
The kids were the first ones to view the White House’s Christmas decorations in person,
a major honor considering the lengths to which the first lady went to transform the executive
residence into a winter wonderland.
The youngsters who made a garland with Melania on Monday were from Joint Base Andrews, which
is fitting considering the First Family’s deep commitment to honoring military families.
In the Trump White House, it only makes sense that the children who were given the honor
of being the first to see Melania’s decorations would be the sons and daughters of brave American
soldiers.
Melania even added a Gold Star tree to the White House decorations this year as a way
to honor fallen soldiers.
Additionally, visitors to the People’s House can write notes to their loved ones who are
deployed.
It certainly is nice to finally have a first family with such deep regard for those who
sacrifice so greatly so that our country can remain safe and free.
As the first lady entered the various rooms, she made small talk with the young kids, all
students locally at Joint Base Andrews.
‘What are your plans for Christmas?’ she asked.
‘Did you write your letter yet?
Do you have any pets at home?’
Before the first lady arrived in the East Room, decorated with several large trees and
the White House creche, the children’s chaperone told them to ‘act natural,’ as they grinned
for the cameras.
When FLOTUS arrived they all went in for the group hug.

the Grand Foyer on Monday morning, where a trio of ballerinas was performing an excerpt
from The Nutcracker.
As she made her way through the Grand Foyer, which was decorated with elegant Christmas
trees which looked as though they had just been covered by freshly fallen snow, Melania
wore a cream-colored dress with bell sleeves.
She accessorized the ensemble with her signature gold heels and a thin gold belt to accentuate
her enviably trim waistline.
“She’s beautiful, like an angel!” exclaimed one boy as Melania entered the East Room.
“Are you the First Lady?”
another youngster asked.
It was a memorable experience for everyone involved, to be sure, and it’s all thanks
to the grace and class Melania exudes.
It’s a wonderful feeling to have Christmas back in the White House this year!
