How do I download drivers for my notebook?
First we need to find out the name of the manufacturer and the model of the notebook.
In order to find this information you can just turn over your notebook and look at the marking.
Or you can find the documentation to your notebook and learn the same from there.
If these options do not suit you, there is another way of finding out the name
of the manufacturer and the model of the notebook.
Press the 'Start' button and type in the search box 'msinfo32.exe'.
If you are using Windows XP then press 'Start', 'Run' and only now write msinfo32.exe.
After that the window 'System Information' will open, where we can see the necessary information.
The things we are looking for can be found in these two lines - 'System Manufacturer' and 'System Model'.
Seeing how I am using a stationary computer the information I have in these lines is on the motherboard.
In your case you will see the name of the manufacturer and the model of the notebook.
Now that we have dealt with the manufacturer and the model we can proceed to actually searching for drivers.
Go to http://drp.su and choose 'Notebooks'.
Then choose the name of your manufacturer from the list. If you do not find it, press the button 'Show all'.
The full list of notebook manufacturers will be shown, pick your manufacturer and click on him.
Next we choose the model of the notebook. We can type it in or choose it from the list.
Now we are transported to a page with the drivers for our notebook.
We are faced with the main question - which drivers should we download and install on our computer?
In order to find that out, you will have to go to the device manager. (Start - Computer - Manage - Device Manager)
The list consists of all the devices that are currently connected to the computer.
As we can see all the devices are properly functioning and no drivers are needed.
But if you see a yellow question mark next to some device, it will signify that a driver
should be downloaded and installed for this device.
Remember the name of the device and download the right driver.
In many cases computer is unable to identify the device.
If it happens then next to the yellow question mark there will be a status 'Unknown device'.
In order to find out which driver is needed for this device we do the following.
We choose the necessary device, go to the 'Details' tab, and choose 'Hardware Ids' in the menu.
Then we see the Id of the device, which will help us to find the driver.
Go back to the page with drivers, scroll down and press 'Show VEN&DEV of devices'.
Now in the right part of the table there appeared Ids of different devices.
They are the specifications that will help us to determine which driver is needed for the unknown device.
If the instructions in this video are too hard for you, then I suggest that you use
the full version of DriverPack Solution, which can be downloaded by pressing the button 'Download the complete version'.
This way you will get the complete version of DriverPack Solution which will install all the drivers automatically.
And the last question that needs to be addressed in the video is this:
'What can be done if you do not find the right driver on the page of your notebook?'
In this case you can use the driver search service and the Hardware Ids we have been talking about earlier.
