Hey everyone! Today I'm going to be showing you a hair and makeup look inspired by
Selena Gomez!
It's a really easy and feminine, cute hairstyle and look
that's good for... any night out really! So, without any further ado, let's get to it!
So I'm gonna start off with
my Urban Decay eyeshadow primer and this is in the color "Sin" -
it's got a really nice champagne shimmer to it. As you can see, mine is almost
running out so I'll have to go out and buy a new one!
But I'm gonna use what I can and just brush that over both
eyelids.
So after that's done I'm going to do my eyebrows next. I've got this
clear mascara from the Sephora Collection and I just
brush all of my eyebrow upward - just like that -
and then I just pat it down on top and it gives you
really nice formed eyebrows that aren't unruly.
And I actually love this product so much, I even mentioned it in my November Favorites
video,
so if you want to check that out in more detail the link will be at the end of
this tutorial.
Next step: I'm just going to fill in my eyebrows a little bit. I don't need too much because
my eyebrows are already defined; I just like to fill in the ends a bit.
If your eyebrows are already defined then you can totally skip this step!
As for eyeshadow I'm gonna be using a taupe color and it's got a bit of a shimmer
there.
I'm just applying this right up to the crease
of my eyelid. This eyeshadow and all the rest that I'm gonna be using are from a jumbo
palette from the Sephora Collection
which I got as a birthday gift! The link to this and all the other products that
I'm using that will be listed in the description box below so be sure to
check that out.
Just doing the same thing to the other eye here.
Now I'm applying a metallic black to the outer corner of my eyelid.
Of course, you gotta make sure you blend it in, right?
At this point, I'm adding a shimmery gray - almost kind of a silver - to the middle of
each of my eyelids.
Blending, blending, blending... and I'm just gonna be putting my hair up because it's
really annoying and getting in my face right here. *laughs*
Here I'm gonna be adding a matte,
pure black color at the bottom of your outer lid
so it doesn't cover the metallic completely, but it does add a really
dark, beautiful pigment to your eye.
This is a jumbo pencil from Sephora
and it's in a light lavender color. I mention it also in my November Favorites video,
and I just use it to brighten the inner creases of my eyes.
If necessary, you can easily just blend it out a little bit with your fingers.
Now take an angled eyeliner brush and just make a nice clean line
of black eyeliner across your entire lid. I prefer this gel eyeliner from my Sephora
palette
because I find it to be really pigmented and goes on super smooth.
As you can see, I'm applying that just to the top and bottom
of my lid.
Personally, I think eyeliner is the key factor to really creating a very dynamic smokey
eye,
so this is an important step. You might wanna smudge your water line just a bit here
to really get that smoky effect.
Time for mascara!
I'm using Avon SuperExtend Extreme mascara
and this is also another one in my November Favorites - I know I'm mentioning them
a lot but, what can I say? *laughs* I'm a woman of my word.
When I say I love a product you really will see me using it a lot,
just like now!
So that's it for the eyes. How's it look so far? :)
Alright, time for blush. I'm just going to use a rosy pink blush so the smoky
eyes don't really
wash out my pale skin too much.
You might be wondering why I'm making this weird face *laughs* but it just helps to apply the
blush to the apples of your cheeks.
It's time for lips: I'm choosing a barely-there pink gloss because this
look is really more about the dramatic eyes.
Time to take that hair out of that ponytail and get to work!
Okay, so this hairstyle is
actually really easy to do. You're just gonna take a curling wand
and you're gonna wrap a section of your hair around it just like this
and hold it for about 15 to 20 seconds. My hair is already naturally curly so I
don't really need to hold it as long to get the same amount of curl.
Now technically, you could braid your real hair... but I'm gonna cheat and go the
easy way with this fake braided headband!
Make sure you get all that beautiful luscious hair out of the way before
you slip it on. :)
Don't forget all those pesky baby hairs! Isn't it beautiful? And so effortless
too.
You could wear this even without curling your hair and it would still be cute. Now you're
gonna curl your hair just like I showed you a minute ago
but you're gonna start from right behind the headband. Oh, and don't worry about
that shorter section of hair sticking out - we'll get to the shorter layers in a
bit.
But, yeah! That's basically all you have to do for the rest of your head!
Remember that pesky shorter layer? Well, you're just gonna take it now and wrap it
over the thicker end of your curling wand.
It just adds some much-needed volume behind your headband.
Make sure you curl away from your face so you get that bump of volume behind your
headband.
I just twist the ringlet once with my finger to make sure that it's falling the right way.
I've decided not to section my hair out because I don't want perfectly
distinguished curls; I just want them to fall where they may.
Plus, if you've got curly hair like me you can just let your natural curls
blend in, a bit messily, with the curls created by the curling wand.
The idea here is just too amp up the curls and the volume where you might be
lacking,
especially behind the crown of the headband.
You might want to add some hairspray to hold and lock in the curl.
I'm using Avon's Advanced Techniques medium hold hairspray
because I find that it does the job without leaving your hair feeling too
tough. Instead, your hair is left soft and touchable.
As you can see here, I'm just scrunching my hair so I can evenly distribute the
hairspray
all throughout my curls. And yes, I know, I make weird faces when I put on hairspray! *laughs*
Wait for it... wait for it...
Dirty look!
Don't forget the back of your hair! It needs some hairspray lovin' too. :)
I like to tuck my ears behind my headband because I don't like them sticking
out, but that's totally up to you.
And you're basically done! That wasn't too hard, right?
Oh, I almost forgot: earrings! Selena wears nice big hoops with this look which I
think is great because it really looks nice with the whole
hair-pushed-back-outta-your-face look.
Well, that's it guys! Feel free to subscribe if you enjoyed it
and leave a comment letting me know what you'd like to see next! Bye guys!
