Hi! This is Aaron Fruitstone and Liz Muller from Chi Martial Arts, in Miami Shores, Florida.
You can reach us on the web at www.chimartialarts.com. The next beginning Brazilian jujitsu position
that you will be learning is side control. While there are many side controls the one
that we will be showing you is known as the four points with base side control. It is
basically how you control your opponent by making your body teed to them, to keep them
from shifting their hips or their torso away from you. So what I am going to do, I am the
bottom guy, Liz is going to pinning me down by placing one knee against my hip, pushing
my arm over my head with the other knee with one elbow, it will be against my hip. She
is going to use her body to hold my arm down with her other elbow against my head. This
position makes it very difficult for me to move my hips out of the way. So it is hard
for me to rotate from side-to-side, it’s also hard for me to rotate my head, because
her elbow is holding my position by pinning my arm with her body weight, she can then
go for different submissions which we’ll cover in another while, we’ll be back…
