Fortunately for us, but unfortunately for the country
there will be plenty of jobs for the criminologists. There are
fields in sociology you can go into to work, social work
for example you can go into law school.
People with a criminology degrees will be able to
work for the DAs offices as
liaisons and coordinators. They will also be able to do
research, all kinds of research for
criminal justice agencies. You can obviously become a
law enforcement officer, whether that's
police or pervasion, you can be a victim's advocate, you can be
someone who helps youth offenders,
you know which is, you know, another important critical aspect of criminology that
probably is not seeing as much attention in recent years.
Our criminal justice system is expanding,
we have the so-called mass incarceration
epidemic in this country that has started being
recognized by the officials and politicians
and there is an outcry that somebody should
do something about it. And of course in order to do something
you need data, you need systematic justice,
and that's what we're trying to do here, we're trying to give our
students the systematic knowledge
and skills so once they have their degree, they will be able to feel
important in decision making positions.
