- Please join me in congratulating Nancy Terrian.

- I was completely overwhelmed and shocked. I had no idea.
Absolutely no idea.
- Actually, I was watching you over there, and you were kind of
looking away, and it's just, like, what?
[ Cheering ]
- Well, and actually I was talking to -- I was sitting next to our --
- You weren't paying attention. - Well, yeah, right.
I was sitting next to our phy ed teacher, Matt Schimenz, and he’s, like,
do you have any idea? You have any idea? I was, like, no, do you have any idea?
I said, maybe it’s you. And then the announcement came on.
- Okay. - And I was just shocked.
- Yeah.

- What an honor and a blessing. Thank you so very much.
I’m very deeply touched.
- How long have you been in teaching? - You know, I was just figuring that out.
I think I’m, like, 20 years.
- You know, there are so many people that are -- that could get this honor.
I work with such amazing people. So I just want to thank, first of all,
our amazing principal and all the amazing teachers that have
supported me through these years.
- In that 20 years, if you had to think back of two or three things that you
felt were really important to, like, tell prospective teachers what they --
what they should expect, what they should love about this job --
- You know, when you go into this profession, you truly have to have
a love for, not only kids, but seeing them succeed and seeing student success.
I want to thank my family for always being there.
And most importantly, Eisenhower, you are by far the greatest people
and place to work in the whole, entire world.
So thank you very, very much.

Also, too, I mean, you know, when I look back at all the teaching,
one of the greatest things is just having those relationships
with kids and families and seeing -- and, you know, being in
this profession 20 years -- - Yeah.
- -- I've seen students of mine grown up, become professionals,
and then come back and say, hey, Mrs. Terrian, I remember
when we did this. - Yeah. Isn't that nice?
- Or I remember when we did that. And, you know, to me, that’s
the ultimate reward. - Yeah.
- I mean, it really is. - I still have a letter sitting in my desk
some student sent me about 20 years ago. And I’ll never throw it out.
Absolutely. - Absolutely.
- Yeah. - Absolutely.
- Well, thanks so much, and congratulations.
- Oh, thank you so much.
- It’s going to be a -- going to have a fun time.
- I really appreciate it.
