It's our graduation week.
It's getting scarily real.
It's a very hectic week.
It's exciting because we're moving on from a significant
chapter in our lives.
I'm going to miss all the people I've met.
It's like a big, big family.
Found it quite challenging, but I guess I'm pretty happy
that I did it.
Graduation is such a big deal.
I'm very excited to graduate, have my family
down here to see that.
I hope I'm ready.
This afternoon we're at the Governor General's Reception.
Going to celebrate the graduation.
having a few light drinks.
Just mingling, mainly.
Tonight the graduations.
We get the opportunity to just have a tour in the study with
the Governor General, which I'm pretty excited about.
A little bit nervous.
I think she'll come around and chat to everyone in time.
She's from Queensland, and I'm from Queensland too, so some
common ground.
Graduations are exciting.
On Wednesday we get our degree conferral, which is where
we're awarded our degrees through the University of New
South Wales.
Today is more the academic side of the graduation, so we
get the degree.
ADFA for me has been the academics, and as nerdy as it
probably sounds, I've really enjoyed the classes.
I just got my bachelor of science majoring in geography
and oceanography.
Bachelor of aeronautical engineering, CDF programme.
I found it quite--
definitely there were a few late nights doing the degree.
Lots of study.
Put you in tears, don't it?
So proud.
I'd recommend it to any kid.
Well, we've done our academic graduation, so we've also got
to graduate from the military side of the academy, and that
will be tomorrow.
The graduation parade on Thursday, which is where we
officially march off from ADFA as graduates of the academy.
Pretty exciting.
I mean, I think this represents the culmination of
a lot of years of hard work for these young people.
The Governor General gave a full inspection of the parade,
and of the band.
March of Governor General [INAUDIBLE]!
The parade looked really good.
I'm very impressed with the whole thing.
I just received the Chief of Army prize.
It was a bit of a shock.
I'm very proud.
I'm very honored to have received that award.
And to see the development of each of these young people,
and that they're ready now to go out into the wider
Australian Defence Force.
I've been very proud today, and that's probably the best
moment for me.
For the final time, dismissed!
ADFA has definitely been a surprise.
You come here, it's not going to be hard.
They want you to pass, and there's a lot of support.
A lot of support.
It is a stepping stone to a career in the ADF.
The academy is hard work, but it's worth the
effort you put in.
As Army, we head over to the real military college for
another 12 months to complete our officer training.
We've heard a few stories.
Many cadets that leave ADFA are quite nervous about RMC.
It'll be fine.
Heading off to HMAS service next year.
Myself and the rest of the *** officers, we will be
going to HMAS Watson to continue on our
*** officer training.
Next near I'm heading just over towards the airport.
I'm going to Brindabella Park.
Up to patrol boats based out of Cairns next year for some
more advanced navigation training.
Oh, yes.
Ready to drive a ship.
Get to militarise my university degree.
The majority of cadets here are heading out into their
units, and out into the fleet for the first time to lead the
soldiers and sailors.
