Hello, this is the basic WordPress tutorial for creating a page
or post and you can see here we're just starting with
a basic WordPress site and
has a 2012 theme applied to your theme might look a little different but don't
worry about that
has all the same pieces the header, the content sidebar
et cetera so right now we're gonna start by just logging in
and if you have a log in link you can use that link
I'm going to just add WP-admin
to make sure that we can get back there
enter my username and password
and were logged in so you can see here there's a
a bar at the top that will stay with us going back and forth now
from the back into the front
and
we can just go back to the back and here we are
K so if we want to create the new post or page
we can click on add new
under posts or page to start with page but we can also go out here
and click on new posts or page here so
we're going to click on page that's where we're gonna start and I'm gonna enter in
title here say page let's just say title
and we can add some content
just gonna copy this content over this is just
some latin text
to paste in and let's
give a new paragraph or two just
have something to work with in you can see there's
basic styling options here we can make things
bold or italic we can
even create ordered lists, let's say I
have a list item
if I want bullets then I can
create bullets here
you get the idea, and I can even
keep hitting enter and get out of that
I can also create an ordered list so this is the
first item, if I click on this
ordered list button then I'll get these will have
numbers on them and you know I can keep hitting Enter and get more
as long as they keep entering in something
and then we have a blockquote
actual kinda set out the text like it's
showing a quote from someone. you can change the alignment
its to fall to align left but you can also center align right
and you can also create a link
so I want to link this word out to another site
for another page on my site I can click this link button
let me show you that one more time there's a little chain link here
and I can type in the URL or paste it in
from another window or tab and then add a title
or I can just click on one of the pages in my own site
and let's just do that just to make it fast there's also a little
check box here to open the link in new tab or window
I'll talk about that the advanced editing
post or page tutorial for now just gonna at this link
and now we have a link you can also
save a draft if you're not ready to go straight to publishing
and that will keep it for later you have
spell checker here and you can even do
distraction-free writing mood where it goes to full screen
and I can exit out of that, it's the same options it's just showing you
in a larger view see you can not be distracted by your things going on here
and we'll talk about everything else
in the advanced version although I do wanna show you
the same thing in a post just to show you that it's the same
really is the same so I'm going to jump over to posts
say leave this page I haven't saved it or published it
so have to confirm that I want to leave this page, and
I'm just going to paste this right back in and it keeps all the formatting that I had
I didn't copy everything as you can see a lost some of the list items but that's
okay it's just a test
but you can see that all of these things are
just the same now they're couple more options here you can
add a category and you can and tags to posts
and we'll talk about that more in
the next tutorial alright thanks
