Ok, good evening everybody. My name is Max Yazger, and I’m a
farmer. Oh wait a minute that’s the wrong flashback, I’m sorry I was
going to the wrong place. Good evening everybody and welcome to
the Flashback to the MRF. My name is Steve Jankowski, I’m the Director of
Alumni Affairs and we’re happy to see you all here tonight. One of the
things that I want to ask is that everybody, this is gonna become like
Disneyland, we need everybody to scrunch in because we’re gonna try
to put 600 people in here if everybody shows up tonight. So, we
sold out two shows, and we appreciate that; we’re happy you’re
here. Let me give you some rules of the road tonight. Most of you are
already probably aware of it, we have food, right here, drinks, here
and here. The wonderful display that Lyle Ward has allowed us to make
use of is over here. There’s other memorabilia around. This is a night
that I’ve been touting as a night of music and memories and that’s what
I’m hoping it is for all of you. Seeing the tye-dyes and the beads and
people I haven’t seen in a long long time is wonderful and I’ve seen a lot
of hugs and handshakes and I haven’t seen you in a while and
that’s what this is about. So we hope you have a great time, connect
with people you haven’t seen for a while; you’re gonna enjoy some
phenomenal music and a night to reminisce about something that was
incredibly special to all of us who came to the MRF. I have a question
for those of you in the audience, who worked the MRF in any capacity?
Raise hands. Who worked the MRF? Round of applause for those who
worked the MRF. How many in here can’t remember attending the
concert at the MRF? We’ve been told by people that if you can remember
attending an MRF concert, you probably never did. This is gonna be
a good time tonight folks, I hope. I want to let you know of a few
things: still outside for a few more minutes there are tickets still
available for the Judy Collins concert as part of the Arts & Issues series
and the tribute to the MRF. That’s Saturday night here in this ballroom.
Judy Collins will be here; she performed at the MRF five times. And
we’re happy to have her back, and the Alumni Association is proud to
sponsor that event. In March, Arlo Guthrie will be here as the bookends
to the tribute to the MRF and we’re sponsoring that event too. So, the
tickets for Arts & Issues are available outside, the MRF book, 50th
anniversary of the University, our t-shirts, you name it, are available.
Please check out the wall; get some food. Radio Rich Dalton who was
working the sign shop and probably produced that sign right there is
gonna be here with the classics band in just a moment. So, relax, get your
food, enjoy, say hello. Music will be starting shortly. By the way, just so
that you know, behind us on this screen throughout the evening when
the band is playing, will be a slide show, reminiscent of maybe an Iron
Butterfly concert or otherwise. And those slides, 250 of them, you might
want to watch, you might see yourself in there. And the films will be
shown on all three screens when we roll the films. If you need anything,
let us know. We have volunteers around wearing the white shirts and
a nametag, if they don’t know something they can come find me or
Katie Bennett, my assistant director will be happy to help you.
But we’re happy you’re here, enjoy the evening.
