Nutritional supplements are not substitutes for the foods that contain them, but they
are insurance against gaps in the diet. I take dietary supplements everyday, I take
a good multivitamin/antioxidant product and in addition I take other dietary supplements
for additional antioxidants. I think that it's absolutely important for people to inform
themselves about which supplements, what dosages, what forms of micronutrients are important.
I would say the leaders in nutrition research today all recommend that everybody should
be taking at least a multivitamin/multimineral supplement to round out deficiencies in the
diet. In addition, I think there are other supplements that can be very important in
a healthy aging program.
