I gonna show you how to repair a treadmill with a slipping belt.
There are a handfull of different reasons
why the belt might slip.
Like this one here kinda stops,
it slips. As you're running, the foot lands and it might stop for a split second.
Anway, I am going to show you
how to diagnose and fix some of those.
Now, a couple other the most common reasons why the belt would slip
is...first the walking belt
might be loose. So what can you do is take your arm
slide this under here and you should be able to just
reach to about the middle of the deck with
some effort. And this one, I can actually reach in
out to around there. So this belt is a little bit loose.
So I am going to show you how to tighten that. To tighten the belt
come down to the back end of the treadmill.
And your treadmill probably came with a wrench.
If it didn't it's probably an Allen wrench. You can
just try to find what size fits it. And there should be like a couple holes in the
back here.
Just fit the wrench in the back there. And what you wanna do is
tighten these bolts just a little bit.
So start off. So I can fit this in.
Start off by turning it about a half a turn.
Just tighten it clockwise half a turn.
And go over to the other side and tighten this one
about a half a turn. You want to do it
evenly on each side.
Again take your arm and slide it in there.
It should seem a little bit tighter. Right now, my arm is kind of going in there. So it's definitely a little
tighter.
Now you can test the belt again. Just see
if it slides, slips. And it still slips a little bit, so I am going to tighten it just a little more.
And you can do this while it's running. So just go ahead
Put this in here. Turn it clockwise
half a turn.
Now another reason why the walking belt might slip
is friction between the belt in the deck. What you can do...
reach under the belt and feel the deck. Slide your hand along there.
Does it feel dry? Does it feel kinda
lubricated? What you might need to do is lubricate
the deck. And I have a video on how to do that. If you watch at the end of the video
I'll go ahead have a link there. It should take you to my video on how to lubricate
a treadmill deck.
And then there's another reason why it slip.
Now another reason why the walking belt might slip
is it might not actually be slipping. What it might be
is the drive belt. There is a
belt here going between the motor and the front
roller, that if this
belt here has worn out,
this belt might be slipping. So
that's another thing you want to keep an eye on. Check that belt for damage
and it's loose. That
belt there goes a little bit beyond the scope of this video. Though I may have
to do another video on how to replace that.
But right now this belt is good.
So the reason why my belt was slipping is just, it was loose.
And I am going to go ahead and lubricate it too. Now one other reason as to why the belt
might slip
is it is possible that the belt is just worn out.
Over time it stretches, the fibers break down in there.
And so even if you tighten up
the rear roller there, it is still is not
tight. It will still be kind of loose. You might also get loose
fraying fibers underneath here. That's definitely a sign that the belt
is trashed. But the most common reasons why the belt slips
is the belt is loose. And that the
the deck just need to be lubricated.
You wanna be real careful about...
you do not want to over tighten the belt. Because if you
make the belt too tight...yes, it won't slip
but you're causing extra wear and tear on the bearings in the rollers
and on the motor, and you're just gonna
do more damage to your treadmill.
So you want to have it somewhat tight, but not
too tight. Just enough so that it doesn't slip. Well
I hope this has helped you get your a treadmill fixed to where the belt
stop slipping.
