Human being do not dwell in stationary houses. They are nomads now.
Infrastructures that were built for temporal activities such as shopping have become static skeletons of urban life.
Indoor shopping malls sit empty. Retail shops are gone. Consumer traffic ceases.
But the malls start to transform. The abandoned spaces are now ready to exhibit art work.
Who makes this art? A robot, named Mall-E.
What does Mall-E draw on the walls and floors of the mall and how?
First, nomads buy (at an affordable price) empty retail stores in the mall to be used as an exhibition space.
Once deployed, the Mall-E system tracks the location of the nomads' mobile houses.
When a change is detected, Mall-E draws the movement with a unique pattern chosen by the Nomad beforehand.
Mall-E will also draw special messages sent through mobile devices.
Mall-E resembles a hybrid of humanoid and machine-like robots.
When the system gives orders to the Mall-E,
it creates appropriate colors and patterns by mixing paints with hoses embedded in its hands,
and then paints the wall with a central brush.
What do the drawings that Mall-E creates look like?
The interior of the future-indoor-mall is inscribed with the data obtained from nomads, which depicts a history of their life.
Thanks to the Mall-E,
the abandoned shopping malls will function similarly to the ancient caves on which primitive men inscribed their lives.
The visual aesthetics of Mall-E's drawing borrows from petroglyphs while also appropriating symbols.
such as brand logos and cartoon characters of the post-industrial age.
At the same time, the drawings have the atmosphere of contemporary infographics.
Mall-E Inscribe your life.
