What's up fellas?
Welcome to another episode from TastySauces.com
I'm your host Billy D.
Today we are traveling to Carolina to try some Carolina style barbecue sauces
Now, I am probably getting some strange looks from people not familiar with the area because if you are looking at
the barbecue sauces because they are not your normal brown-reddish color but are actually
mustard-based
and that is what gives it the orange color.
A little bit different but probably going to be just as tasty so
We got a little Cattlemen's Reserve. This is their Carolina style BBQ sauce
and we got Uncle Mike's
Carolina style barbecue sauce.
So with no further adieu let's go ahead and taste them and see what they rate them.
Now, as far as the Cattlemen's
they are actually distributed by French;s Foods which make the famous
mustard
but for their ingredients, they got vinegar, sugar, mustard seed,
cayenne peppers, they do have some tomato paste in there, apple cider vinegar,
some wheat,
paprika, corn syrup, molasses, garlic powder
and some natural flavoring.
and just from shaking the bottle this stuff looks pretty thin but
let's see how it goes.
It has got a nice
I can already tell a tangy aroma from the smell
it definitely has that mustard feel to it so you want to be pretty
conservative when you are pouring this on as its going to run out pretty quick.
It has got that nice
bright yellow, orange color to it
Pretty smooth, nothing really overpowering
definitely taste that strong mustard but I am
actually digging this stuff. It's pretty good.
Hard to make out the flavors because it is so smooth that nothing really stands out
But as far as my rating on this
I would give it 4 out of 5 on my personal preference scale.
there's no spice to it whatsoever so I am going to give it a 1 on the spiciness scale.
Not bad stuff.
Definitely recommend checking that out
Now, this Uncle Mike's BBQ Sauce
we've got a
brown sugar in their mustard,
corn syrup, vinegar,
sugar,
tomato paste, molasses, corn syrup,
It has got some hickory smoke flavor which should add a nice little element to it. Plus, some chipotle pepper flavoring.
Yes, you definitely get that smoke flavor from it. I can seem some spices just from pouring it out.
This stuff is relatively thin too so be careful when pouring it out.
A little bit sweeter than the other one.
The molasses gives it a nice little extra flavoring to it. The spices are really good on it.
Not too bad. I am definitely digging it over the Cattlemens.
Pretty good stuff.
I am going to give this one a 4.5 out of 5
Not a whole lot of spice to it
so this one is also a 1 on the spicy scale but
it just has a few extra elements to take it over the edge with the Cattlemens.
But definitely if you guys tried these out,
let me know what you guys think and, I can't wait to talk to you guys later.
