The companies that are showing technology are showing the most innovative technology. I’ve never seen so much in the 30 years I’ve attended. A lot of this technology assumes ubiquitous broadband.
Broadband is clearly the future that we’re going to whether it’s wired or wireless, it’s very important.
We have a home monitoring kit, which is our little consumer security kit that’s going to help you monitor what’s going on in your house. And add into that the 3G doorbell. It’s a doorbell you install just like any normal one. It’s battery operated.
As soon as someone is at your doorbell and it’s going to turn on a camera right on top and that is going to give you an image of who is at your door. And that doorbell will also alert your cell phone.
So if you’re at the grocery store or you’re even out on vacation, your phone will pop up a visual image of who’s in front of your house.
We are a medical device company that’s developed a remote patient monitoring system that connects patients with their care providers. By collecting information from different biometric devices like glucose meters,
and then we transmit that information via the cell phone network either through a CDMA connection or a GSM connection to our backend system that allows the care provider to log in wherever they have a web connection.
Kidos is a downloadable software program that basically turns your parents computer into a kids computer, and what is does is it keeps your child safe from the Internet. Broadband is an important part of what we’re doing because kids are used to getting content on demand, and this is the ultimate in on demand content. What we can offer is a children’s digital media library from around the world.
I have a superfast mobile live broadcasting kit. In three years, this will actually replace the live remote satellite truck, and this wouldn’t be possible without broadband.
Now you can have your TV network on the Internet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. That’s pretty empowering to all the broadcast users.
You can see where the products on the market today and the ones that have been shown here for tomorrow they assume there’ll be broadband. Those products not only create jobs by the people making them and selling them, they create opportunities for content,
applications, for new services and those jobs are good jobs, they are creative jobs and the kind of jobs Americans want where you’re using your mind. We’re never going to be the factory nation of China but we are going to be the creative center of the world, and those are the jobs that broadband creates.
