MCA was established in 1921 and for decades was a symbol of identity of a country under
French occupation. The club's record is also the most successful
in the country. MCA had for decades the best training centres
and academies in the country, however, things haven't been going well in recent years and
this footballing shrine has been in dramatic decline.
Striker Mustapha Djalit says there are signs the club is in a healthy shape and will win
honours this season.
"For the moment I think MCA is in a better shape when you look at the results. We still
have other matches, difficult ones this season where we hope to achieve better things, at
least win a title." Head coach Djamel Menad joined the club at
the start of the season and has brought a more professional attitude to the club.
"I have noticed some negative points in the team. The players lacked fitness and tactical
awareness on the pitch. We can correct this with work, continuous work and more matches.
Training sessions alone are not enough. Matches are essential to bring the players to their
best." MCA currently play their home matches at the
national stadium, which is owned by the Algerian ministry of sport.
