Jesse: Here we are back at the Tap Room. Jesse
Melton, brewmaster. Bonz: Bonz here as the tap attendant and events
coordinator. Man, Jesse, smell that Pale Ale. Isn't that delicious? Tell me about this
Pale Ale. Jesse: Kegged yesterday. Fresh kegged. Yeah,
our Pale Ale is our best seller. It's an English style Pale Ale, very smooth, very
good drinker. It definitely sells well over half of our beer, total sales between kegs
and bottles. Bonz: Now, Jesse this won, what was it, a
state competition or something? Jesse: National, and world.
Bonz: Tell me about it. Jesse: World beer cup, we won in '04 which
is a bi-annual competition. Winning that's a big deal because you're going against
people in Germany and all over the world. And then again, we took it in '04 for the
World Beer Cup Gold. So for four years in a row our Pale Ale was the number one beer
in the world for English Style Pale Ale, which is pretty awesome. The way we brew it is,
I guess, your traditional way, at least by the German Purity Law.
Bonz: That's be the Reinheitsgebot, right? Jesse: Yeah, the Reinheitsgebot, which that
is malt, hops, water and yeast and that's it. Anything outside of that is considered
an adjunct. We brew this with our two rows brewers malt and caramel 40 malt. And we actually
add hops three different times. We add three different kind of hops.
Bonz: Oh, man, this Pale Ale is great. It goes wonderful with chicken, poultry, it goes
good with pork. It's just a fantastic beer. It goes great with pizza—a lot of pizza
joints are carrying it on tap. That's probably one of our most popular places is pizza places
and steak houses, they love our pale ale. It goes really well. It's a really good,
well-rounded beer for a lot of food pairings. I would drink it all the time with everything
if I could! I like our Pale Ale. I try to keep it on tap at my house and you should
too! But the Pale Ale's really good—cheers to that!
Jesse: Cheers!
