They put me in the armored vehicle and took me to the security department, illegally
they tortured me while I was in the armored vehicle
What was the torture method you faced inside the detention department?
hanged for three days Torture using Electricity; killing with electricity rods and skinning
they hit women with electricity rods!!...They electrified me
there was a 16-year old female media activist with me. They *** her.
This is a testimony of a Syrian woman among thousands of others who have been going through the harshest circumstances that can be inflicted on women
on a day which should supposedly celebrate women's achievements through their struggle.
The SNHR and Revolution Authorities have been
highlighting the suffering of Syrian women for more than two years
Since the beginning of the revolution, Syrian women have been participating side by side with men in protests that were brutally suppressed despite their peaceful nature.
The regime didn't respect women's sanctity
Women and girls who were affiliated to revolting cities and villages were abducted and abused
According to the SNHR, more than 4000 women have been killed so far
including 1300 children, in addition to 20 women who have died under torture.
Regime forces have arrested not less than 6000 women including 1000 university students.
There are about 1200 cases of missing women from Homs, Lattakia and Damascus Suburbs
female detainees are subjected to violent torture and the *** policy was used against more than 700 detainees inside security departments.
More than 4000 *** assault cases have been recorded during raids and attacks
that are the widest and most prevalent practices
these are numbers recorded by the SNHR after listening to the testimony of dozens of female detainees.
And more than 30 thousand women have been documented widowed
almost 19,000 women whose husbands have been registered missing.
More than one million and 4 hundred thousand Syrians have fled to neighboring countries
more than half a million are women
And the Public Authority for the Syrian Revolution highlights women's suffering in refugee camps and displacement countries
where some are abused, forced to get married because of need and poverty in addition to other kinds of suffering
The beautiful part of Syria (representing women) is reflecting and suffering as whole Syria does
but it is struggling to plan a new future worthy of their sacrifice as well as the sacrifices of all Syrians.
