Description is the art
of conveying important visual details through narration.
It tells the blind viewer who's there
and what they're doing.
- Two scientists stand before a flask of orange liquid.
One tries to pour a test tube of green liquid in,
but the liquid doesn't move.
He taps the test tube on the flask.
He looks up at his colleague and blushes.
narrator: Videos is a frequently used resource in the classroom,
and blind students can miss out
on critical information on the screen.
- In a classroom,
a U.S. map is projected on a chalkboard.
Minnesota is highlighted,
and the capital appears in the southeastern quadrant.
Then a bulleted summary list.
Words read: "Pirate equals thief plus boat
"plus bandana minus leg.
"Charlotte de Berry was a female pirate.
"Edward Teach was nicknamed Blackbeard
for his tremendous beard."
Next, an interactive quiz.
A question appears:
"Which shape is made of triangles?"
A ball, a cube with walls that have four sides,
or a pyramid with walls that have three sides.

so very little educational media is described.
