One of the best things about
being at Penn State Hazleton
is the camaraderie.
Everyone here is like family.
It's more like a home here.
I've made friends through
the extra curricular activities
that I'm involved with.
It's the most beautiful place
where I can be.
I work here so
it's such a good thing for me.
I found both academic
and athletic success
here in Penn State Hazleton.
I didn't think I was
gonna be able to succeed
as much in my athletic experience
until I came here and I realized that
the athletic advantages that
we have here is really good.
It's the perfect campus
to start college with.
My name's Matthew Tanhauser.
I'm from Nazareth, Pennsylvania.
My name is Siobhan Sullivan.
I'm from South Jersey.
I chose Penn State Hazleton
because I like the the campus,
the surroundings,
and I'm just overall a big Penn State fan.
I realized that
there's an entire horizon
of English classes that
go completely beyond
anything high school could touch,
and it was one of the things
that actually drew me to Penn State.
I was looking for a school
with a lot of tradition.
I think that drove me even more
to a university that was unified
and that had this
big family feeling to it.
I chose to stay here for four years
because it's closer to my home,
I love the communication
I get with my advisors here,
and the one on one contact.
I chose Penn State Hazleton
for the 2 + 2 program.
I really like the idea
of there being a small university
that you start out at
where everyone knows everyone
and it was this close to nature feeling
and then you get the big university feeling
at University Park.
Ever since I was little
I was just a big fan of animals,
so I just chose something that I knew
would make me happy
not only like ten years from now
but fifty years from now
being a veterinarian.
I had a fear that I wasn't going to make it.
It was not a street anymore,
but a world.
A time and space
of falling ash and near night.
Where are we?
What's the setting
in that initial sentence?
There's actually a teacher here,
Dr. Wright,
that definitely helped me see that
that was complete bologna
and that as long as I tried
and kept trying
and didn't stop
that there was no limitation.
Look at all the different campuses
and each one has it's own
unique feel to it.
You really gotta
take the time to come visit,
and out of all the campus
I really went to
I could see myself being here,
living here,
kind of like a home
away from home.
People everyone know Penn State.
You say I went to Penn State,
they know what it is.
You get the Penn State feeling
that you're still all one university
and everything just
comes together as one.
College has opened my eyes
in a lot of ways.
Diversity is really big here
and when you come from
a small campus like Hazleton
and then you go to University Park
it's the coming together.
[Cheering] We are,
Penn State!
They prepare you for
not just University Park,
but the rest of your life.
I am absolutely glad
I chose Penn State Hazleton.
There's always something you can do.
We are all Penn State,
no matter what campus you go to
you're still a Penn State student.
A degree from Penn State
will definitely make an impact
on the job market.
They'll know you had a
nice foundation of education.
They have given me many opportunities
to succeed in my life.
It's a wonderful experience.
It is pretty cool.
This is the best campus
I could have picked.
