Hi, I'm kate and I'm a Master Esthetician working at Serenity Now Day Spa.
We're locating in Pleasant View, Utah and we are servicing the Ogden and Pleasant View Areas.
I often get asked about the differences between traditional hot wax and
sugar wax for leg hair removal.
The biggest difference is
sugar is made up of all natural ingredients,
just sugar lemon and water. It's way less irritating to the skin
and a lot less painful than
traditional hot wax.
As you can see, the sugar past is room temp
so it cannot burn the skin.
as I apply the paste to the leg, it's applied the opposite direction of hot
wax.
It molds down into the follicle grabbing and removing the entire hair preventing
breakage.
The sugar paste is then pulled in the same direction as the hair,
which is less painful and less irritating.
Live skin cells contain water.
Sugar wax will not physically adhere to water
thereby preventing it from tearing or hurting the skin.
Basically sugaring wax is a natural exfoliation
because it removes dead skin cells only. Hot wax can burn and tear the skin because
it can adhere to live skin cells.
Sugaring wax can extract very short hairs. Typically hot wax requires you to have
longer hair.
With sugaring wax, your hair needs to be about 1/6 of an inch long.
What that equates to is about 3 weeks of growth after your last shave.
The first time always hardest,
but sugaring can stunt the hair growth and it can thin your hair out.
The second sugaring hair treatment will be half the time and half the hair.
As you can see,
we apply the sugar paste
and pull with the hair follicle instead of against it.
This greatly reduces irritation and ensures the whole hair is extracted to
provide you with a longer time
in between waxing appointments.
If you keep up with your appointments,
about every four to five weeks, your hair will remain thin, soft and easy to remove.
Avoid spray tans
or self tanning until after your waxing appointment.
Sugaring wax is water-soluble,
so it does not leave a sticky residue. It washes off easily with just water.
Sugaring hair wax is also more sanitary because we use the same ball
of sugar and there is no double-dipping like they do for hot wax.
It is a natural antibacterial product.
