The traffic Choices website is here to help neighbourhoods make better decisions on traffic schemes.
As a resident in Bristol, you can have a say in how you think traffic should be managed in your area.
Each year, money is given to neighbourhood partnerships for traffic schemes.
This is £17,000 for two ward partnerships, or £26,000 for three ward partnerships.
We can't expect everybody to be a highways expert,
so the website provides a summary of information about different traffic schemes and how effective they are.
You can then discuss this with other residents in the partnership, and decide on a scheme to carry forwards.
There's a couple of different ways you can use the website:
If you have a traffic problem, or you just want to improve the safety of roads in your area,
you can select a traffic issue, which will then give you a list of suggested treatments.
Or alternatively, if you have something in mind, you can select a scheme form the index.
From here you can see how effective it is at solving traffic issues.
We can't expect the website to solve your traffic problems on it's own -
The right decision will be reach through discussions at neighbourhood partnership meetings,
discussion with your highways engineer at Bristol City Council,
and using the information on this website.
Your highways engineer can provide specific feedback on any ideas you may have, and their own experience with traffic schemes.
Locally elected Councillors ultimately have the final decision on traffic schemes,
however the neighbourhood partnership process will provide a clear message as to what communities want to see on local roads.
