Voicemail: You have
one new voice message. Sergio: Aaron, buddy. It's Sergio.
You gotta stop by and help me out man. I'm having big time sound issues with my computer.
So come all over, man. I'll see you soon. Thanks.
Aaron: What is going on?
Skater: What's up man?
Hey, that's my board! Hey!
You're crazy!
Sergio: Hey man, thanks for coming.
I've been screwing around with this thing for... Aaron: Yeah yeah yeah, I know. For a couple hours now.
What is it this time?
Sergio: Are you, like, having a bad hair day or something? What's going on?
Aaron: This is the fourth time in a row you've called for my help.
Sergio: You're tripping man. What? You haven't slept in a week or something? What's going on?
Aaron: Nevermind. What's your deal now?
I mean, how can I help you dear ex-roommate? Sergio: Okay, I can't get any sound out of my computer.
Aaron: So what happened?
Sergio: Aright well a friend of mine noticed that I have an HDMI monitor,
and they said with HDMI, I can get high quality digital video and audio in the same cable.
Aaron: That's true. Sergio: Okay, so I shut down my PC and I disconnected
the video cable and the audio cable, and then I connected the HDMI cable from my PC to my monitor.
Now, I did some research, believe it or not, on HDMI and I know that an HDMI
cable carries both a video and an audio signal.
Obviously the video signal's working, because we have a picture of my monitor,
but look at this.
I can see that the song is playing,
but there's no sound.
I even rebooted it. Still doesn't work.
Aaron: Alright, well your PC thinks it should still be outputting to the speakers.
We need to switch it and tell it to output to HDMI instead.
So right-click the speaker icon the system tray.
Open Playback Devices.
Alright, now look for an option that says HDMI.
Sergio: Oh yeah, here we go. Realtek HDMI Output.
Aaron: Aright now click that,
and then click Set Default.
Alright now that should be it but,
let's check the Realtek properties and check the settings.
Sergio: Okay, I'll click Properties.
Aaron: Now go to the Supported Formats tab.
Alright we want Dolby Digital off. That's good.
And then we want 48 KHz on, so we're good. Click OK.
Sergio: Okay. I get it. That makes sense. So basically
I'm wanting to switch the audio from standard analog to HDMI digital, right?
Aaron: That's exactly right. So now let's test it. Sergio: Alright. Let's see if it works.
Cool. Sounds good.
Hey hey, wait a second man. You wanna hang out?
I've got something that could really lift your spirits, and you look like you could use it.
Aaron: I don't want any of your strawberry organic tea, alright?
Sergio: How'd you know I was gonna say that?
Aaron: Dude, I'll just see you tomorrow.
Sergio: Tomorrow?
What's going on tomorrow?
How'd you know I was going to say organic strawberry tea?
