My name is Matthew Tarn. I am a modern engineering apprentice with Nestlé UK.
My apprenticeship involves a vast variety of things.
I never have the same day; my day-to-day is always different.
I've been involved with installing new machines on the factory with focus for improvement.
I've been involved with programming machines, generalised maintenance and preventative and reactive maintenance as well.
Benefits I've found from becoming an apprentice are the fact that I can have industry experts around me.
It's incredible, it's fantastic. The opportunity to earn whilst I learn is great and I love the people that I work with.
I wanted to work in the industry specifically engineering, because it's something that I loved doing at college
and the fact that I could get involved with some of the big machines in the big plants that manufacture some of our iconic products in Britain,
something which has a lot of potential for the future as well. I'm really looking forward to what's to come.
