Seoul. Seoul.
We won the Olympic games here in 1988.
And we still remember it. Videoblog from Seoul!
Don't stumble here. A perfect opportunity...
Bravo, bravo!
Ni hao! We are in Arbat, but its Beijing version, it’s a pedestrian street.
We have arrived here with the London Symphony orchestra and maestro Valery Gergiev.
We are playing here tonight as a continuation of our Asian tour.
A very important message… Variable cloud, a little snow – nothing really serious.
Going out for a walk, I am happy to be in this wonderful city once again.
Now we are going to a wonderful place and I will tell you some wonderful things there.
We are in the biggest square in the world.
This is the gate to the Forbidden city, you can see Mao Zedong’s portrait.
This inscription reads “Long live the People’s Republic of China!”
If we look at the other side we can see Mao Zedong’s mausoleum in the background.
This monument is the tomb of the Unknown soldier.
I don’t know the exact size of the square, but it occupies an enormous space,
it is the biggest square in the world. Let’s go inside now.
We are inside of the Chinese subway. We have come here
because it is impossible to catch a taxi in the 40km long Peace avenue.
There’s quite a crowd here – no wonder, China’s population is around 1.5 billion people.
We go out at the next stop, we change for another line at Krasnopresnenskaya!
The elections day. We have voted at the Russian consulate in Shanghai.
Valery Abisalovich, have you done your civic duty?
Yes, I have. I must say openly…
Excuse me, can I take a photo with you?
Yes, you can.
So, we did it, the elections are completed.
Do you like it in Shanghai?
It is very beautiful, the food is delicious, Sarah Chang played splendidly.
She changed the tempo in every time,
but maestro caught up with her, skipping the whole time.
What’s so funny in it? Nothing.
We have gorgeous food…gorgeous food… I am speaking about food…
They do it like this: take a slice of meat, throw it there and in less than 40 seconds
the meat is ready. Let’s keep in there a bit longer.
Now I am going to eat it.
The final gathering in Shanghai, today is a special day.
Is it for MTV?
It will not go further than the internet.
Today is my last day in Shanghai, I must rush like a flash to the airport.
I must sign 100 CDs and then rush like a flash to the airport after the concert.
I would like to tell a few things to you.
Our tour is over, it was marvelous in every respect.
I think that the London Symphony orchestra in liaison with Valery Gergiev are
an incredibly powerful collective that give rise to something wonderful at every concert.
Every concert is a completely new rendition, a new story I should say.
I am glad that there was a lot of interesting moments in this tour during rehearsals
and performances on the stage. I am saying goodbye to you from this tour.
Tomorrow I have a concert in Astana, Kazakhstan, in a huge brand new hall
with amazing acoustics. I love the Kazakh public,
their great mayor, my friend, who does a lot for the culture.
Right after the concert I go to Cologne where I will play Rachmaninov, Concerto no.3.
with the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne. We will play also in Duisburg.
See you from Germany! Maybe, I will manage to film something of Kazakhstan,
but, to be honest, the pace might be too fast for it.
Wishing you all the best, see you in my next videoblog.
