Father,
I know that you see,
all the pain in my family, so could, would you please. Hi, I'm Dez Childs, and today we're going to do
A simple warmup, my favorite
Maybe a few,
more than one, but first I would like to start with the lip trill
one of my
favorites
and I like to
do it on A five tone major scale, like this, this is a B flat Major scale.
(Lip trill)
Then, on a B scale. (Lip Trill)
C scale (lip trill)
Kind of lick your lips
if the trill stops.
That
Kind of helps it to keep going (Lip Trill)
You might spit a little too, but that's okay. That's normal, just wipe of the equiptment when you're done.
(Lip Trill)
You can go pretty high with these (Lip Trill).
But, you might want to go in your falsetto voice as you
do it, too.
(Lip Trill)
And the last one; Here's an
E scale (Lip trill)
and of course, you can keep going higher
if you know your scales pretty well.
Let's do some lower ones, too. This is an A Major scale. (Lip trill)
(Lip trill)
The last one is an F sharp
Major Scale
(Lip trill)
And, you can go fast or slow depending upon
how well you feel like you do it. You can also do lip
trills on an 8 tone
major scale; Here, i'll show you on an A major. (Lip trill)
That's a little fast, so we'll do it slower. (Lip trill)
Here's A flat. (Lip trill)
The last one is G (Lip trill)
These are really good, because it's said that they lubricate the vocal cords. They make me feel a lot better,
so,
that should probably be one of the first ones you do to warm up, before you
get to harder stuff.
The next one I really like to do
is the hum.
And I like to do these actually on a chromatic scale. Chromatic means
One step to the next. So, black key, white key, black key, white key.
If you know what it is, that's great. (humming) That was a B--starting at a B flat going up
one-two-three-four-five notes and then back down.
(humming)
really gentler, don't go too hard with these. (humming)
(humming)
(humming)
Make sure your lips are gently together, don't clamp down on your lips. You want everything to maintain
A relaxed position. And, make sure in your mouth, your teeth are apart; you're not clenching
your teeth.
The other one I like is an open mouth hum.
It's the same as a hum but your mouth is open.
obviously. And it's a very
nasal sound. It is the
"ng" sound, on words like "song" or "sing"
you can think of toerh
words but,
it's that "ng" sound. (humming)
you can go really high with these, too so, let's actually do these on a five tone major scale. (humming)
Here's a B scale (humming)
And, of course, you want to make sure you're breathing diaphragmatically or intercostally
whichever one you feel comfortable
with right now, you always want to be breathing correctly. (humming)
The chest is high. (humming)
Here's D sharp for E flat major. (humming) And that's it for today. Hope you enjoyed our warmups
See ya later!
