Okay, so now that we're done with text I want to go on and add some shapes. We'll take a
look at all the different shape options. Okay, the first shape in the tool bar is the
rectangle. I'm going to go ahead and draw a basic rectangle. I'm going to click on the
select arrow. Now, with all of the shapes, they will show up in design central in the
third tab. So, there's our rectangle and these are all the options available for a rectangle.
Now, every shape has its own set of options available for it and they all do all kinds
of different things. Okay, so let me draw your attention to the
control points that are on....that you will see on all of the different shapes. Now, any
time that you see these circle or square control points; it shows you have different options
available to do different things with your object. So, for instance the rectangle has
the control points in the corners. In design central right now we have rounded that is
showing up. There is also several different options: verticle...er, inverted, clipped.
so, what you can do is by dragging these corners, the circles, you have some different options
available to you. So, that's the inverted. Switch and do rounded. Also, this one you
can put in an inner border. So, there are many options available for each object. So,
what I would say to do is to open up all of these different objects and go ahead and play
with them. Next object is the circle tool. Obviously
we are basically going to be drawing a circle. Next one available; actually the next two
I'd like to call your attention to. First, we've got our polygon tool and our star tool.
Now both of those have a lot of options available to them. Let me go ahead and draw a polygon.
Okay, so that one came up as a nine-sided polygon.
So, with our polygon...if you go to Design Central and you click on the Polygon tab,
it shows the amount of sides that the polygon has. This particular one has nine showing,
but you can go ahead and change that and go lower or higher. You can go up to actually
even to a complete circle. Okay. The interesting thing about a polygon is:
see it does also have these option points, control points. By clicking and dragging on
the circle and pulling straight out, we get a star type effect. Now, notice that particular
circle turned into two. Now, if you click on one of the outer circles and pull, we have
a flower. Now, what's really fun with it is that you can make adjustments, move all those
control points; like I said, they all do different things, so you get different types of shapes.
You can also decide that you want more petals on your flower and keep adding them. So, that's
a really nice option as well. Once again the star is a lot like the polygon.
So, I'm going to go ahead and show you some of the star options as well. Let's go ahead
a draw a quick star and let's remove that so you can see it. I'm going to click on the
Star in Design Central to bring that up with the select tool. Once again you can change
the size, the sides so you have multiple sides or bring it back down to a basic five-point
star. You can also move the points so that you have a kind of sheer effect. You can bring
that back down by typing a zero in there will bring it back down to normal.
Now also notice you have lots of control points, more than any other one. These are editable
too, just like the flower; move them out and you've got extra points. Every time you got
a point, it does something else, so you can keep moving it so you can create a type of
flower. Now, any of these points can move in any direction, so you can get some real
interesting effects. So, go ahead and any time you see a point, remember that you can
do something else with it. So, go ahead and try and see what you can come up with. Keep
in mind that when you do something that has overlaps, that they are going to cut out into
a pile of confetti unless you use the outline tool to outline it, which is a simple way
to get that effect without having it fall apart.
The other two options that are available are the Arc or Rainbow Tool to create an ark and
once again there are several different effects you can get by playing with the control points
and our Arrow Tool. It has a great arrow tool if you create arrows. You can change the widths
and the lengths of the arrows. You can make it so that the arrow has more of a pointed
tip, like that by editing this dialogue box at the very bottom. So, once again go ahead
and experiment with that. So, now we've gone through shapes and we've
gone through text and you need to go ahead and play with both of those and come up with
some fun options for your paper crafting projects.
