In a journey to everywhere
Between cities and nations
In the presence of the Wise Remembrance
The Lord of all hearts Has unified us... Has unified us all.
And for the sake of memorizing the book
We have knocked every door
we shall continue this right path, before things come to an end
Many are wondering how long it would take them to memorize the Qur’an
Some want to set 2 years, 3, 5, or more
Let me give you this quick calculation
Qur’an is 30 juzzs
and each of them is 20 pages
Now if your target is 1 year, you need to memorize 2 pages daily
2 pages daily and still finish in 1 year?
Well, I don't mean only memorization
You will have 10 month for memorization and another 2 for revision
total is 1 year
If you wish to memorize it in 3 years, you need to memorize 1 page daily
If you memorize one page a day, you'll have 2.5 years for memorization, and another 5-6 month of revision
Now those who are very busy
Those of you who are very committed to their work or social life
You can memorize Qur’an in 5 years
You need to memorize a quarter of a hizb (2-2.5 pages) every week
This is equivalent to less than half a page per day
And you will memorize Qur’an in 5 years
You might be surprised on how simple!
Two pages a day for 1 year?!
One page and I finish it in 3 years?
2.5 pages a week and I finish it in 5 years?!
Yes, it is that easy!
This is the approximate calculation, I outlined it for you here
All you need is to pick you plan
If you can memorize 2 pages a day, it's a year
If you can memorize 1 pages a day, it's 3 years
And If you can't do more than half a page, may Allah bless your effort
May Allah help you all to reach the goal, which is memorizing His book, swt.
[Morocco]
Al-Habib Al-Momo is a man of an inspiring determination
Truly he is the best benefit for anyone who became too lazy to care for the book of Allah
We deeply feel the Mightiness of the book of Allah swt
It is really a miracle. Exactly as Allah says, it is made so easy to read for all humans of all types;
All Muslims Young and old; able, disabled, and those with special needs
Allah Almighty facilitates it for them
And He selects and specifically chooses those who memorize His book
“Then we caused to inherit the Book those We have chosen of Our servants;"
I wouldn't claim the goodness of Al-Habib before Allah, I just hope he is one of them
Those who Allah chose among people to memorize His Qur’an
I have been so eager and excited to meet 'the beloved' i.e. Al-Habib
How are you my beloved?
Are you well?
My beloved, you have memorized the Qur’an, I was telling the viewers
You started memorizing it at the age of 21
and finished at the age of 27
A total of 6 years
How did you do it? What plan did you follow?
The Moroccan way! You mean writing on boards?!
- The Sheikh used to write for you? - Yes
- Who are your sheikhs who taught you Qur’an? - Two
- Two teachers? - Yes [mentioning their names]
These are the ones who taught you yes
-So they would write on the board for you, and you memorize from it? -Yes
Till you memorized all the Nobel Quq'an
Did you find any difficulty?
So the first memorization was a bit hard!
What about the second time?
A bit better!
And the third?
It was too easy!
That means the fourth time was a memorization of perfection!
- So you memorized it 4 times! - Yes
The will of Allah
- How much did you memorize each day? did you memorize every day?
- one eighth during the first memorization
One eighth daily
And one quarter in both 3rd and 4th memorizations
My beloved, Al-Habib's father, tell us, who encouraged him to memorize the Qur'an?
Allah!
Allah did! Great is Allah
It is only by the blessing of Allah that he gave him this, so praise is to Allah!
Such a bliss, and congratulations to you!
- Is he your oldest sons? - Yes he is
- A very important question, uncle Abu Al-Habib - Go ahead
After he memorized the Qur’an, what was the effect of that on your family? Your household, and daily life?
It is as if a bright light has entered our house, I praise Allah for that. Praise to Allah.
And my Moroccan people always tell me to thank Allah and how much thankful they are that my son is one of them
- They are proud of him! - Yes
Al-Habib, how do you revise Qur’an? and at which times?
- At dawn! - The time of Fajr!
- I revise 5 Hizb - On your own, you finish 5 Hizb
- At home - Okay so when you get home, and after you are done, you go to bed.
Am I right or not?
May Allah bless you
Are you ready for a test? I want to test Al-Habib Al-Mumu
- So are you ready or not? - By the will of Allah!
"..Our Qur’an...is a clear light...for the worshipers...over the centuries."
" It is a light upon light for us. It is our way to eternal happiness."
" It has the cure of the hearts"
" And its clear evidence is within its lines"
" It is our interceder on the day of judgment."
" It was descended with the trusted angel"
- Ready for first Question? - By the will of Allah
" So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me."
" O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient."
" And do not say about those who are killed in the way of Allah, They are dead. Rather, they are alive, but you perceive [it] not."
May Allah bless you! Second Question:
" But for he who has feared the position of his Lord are two gardens -"
" So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -"
" Having [spreading] branches."
" So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -"
" In both of them are two springs, flowing."
" So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -"
" In both of them are of every fruit, two kinds."
" So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -"
" [They are] reclining on beds whose linings are of silk brocade, and the fruit of the two gardens is hanging low."
" So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -"
That's Allah's will, blessed is His name
I asked him in this surah, Al-Rahman, starting from: " But for he who has feared the position of his Lord are two gardens"
He continued reading without any mistake, until he reached: "And below them both are two [other] gardens-"
" So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? - Dark Green"
This is the wonder of the Qur'an!
This is a strong message to us, and to you!
I ask him in Qur'an, and he makes No mistake.
All his life is the Qur'an.
Isn't this is the time for you to take that decision?
Isn't this is the time to get closer to the Qur’an?
This is an example that we put before you!
Please, take him as an example to follow!
Teach your children the Qur'an
All Morocco is proud of this young man
Not just Moroccans, but All of us Muslims, we are proud to have such examples among us
A question arises: how did the prophet, may peace and blessings be upon him, received the Qur'an?
The answer is that he took it by the word of mouth from the angel Jabriel
Jabriel would descend on him, and give it to him, word by word.
In a similar way, the prophet used to give it, word-by-word, to his companions, may Allah be pleased with them
After they had perfected it, they also taught it to their successors with the same carefulness, word-by-word
And this continued till this day, Qur'an is transmitted from one to the other, only by people who perfected it
Therefore, a very important rule when memorizing the Qur’an, for those of you who made the decision
...is to take it by the word of mouth, from a well-perfecting teacher
These people are easy to find in our Arabic countries, by the blessing of Allah
You will find many Qari's, sheikhs, and Qur'an teachers who have qualification
So choose one of these!
Either go to a local Masjid, and ask for specific time hey spend with you, to memorize and revise.
Or if they are willing to meet you at home, then you can spend more time with them
And don't think your Arabic is so good that you don’t need help!
The best Arabic speaker will still need assistance to memorize Qur'an
Because the words of this book of Allah are very special and follow specific rules that needs to be taught and practiced
I know people who memorized the Qur'an, my colleagues, of similar age to me
But it was a completely personal effort, at home with no teacher
They memorized it all!
But when we used to travel together or recite for each others, I found so many mistakes they make!
Because the words of Qur'an are different!
An example to explain!
Go to Surat Huud, and read from the verse
I seek refuge in Allah from the evil Shytan
And [Noah] said, "Embark therein; in the name of Allah is its course and its anchorage. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and Merciful."
Now if one reads this with only the knowledge of reading Arabic
He'd read "Majraha" [with heavy Ra'a]
While the correct way is "Majreha" [with light Ra'a]
Another example... turn to surat Saba'
I heard this mistake from a hafidh!
He said: "But they turned away [refusing], so We sent upon them the flood of the dam, and We replaced their two [fields of] gardens with gardens of bitter fruit, tamarisks and something of sparse lote trees."
He did not say "Dhawatai" he said, "Dhawata"!
Now both are written similarly but he missed a sukoon sign
This is why, an important rule to memorize the Qur’an is to take it from a qualified teacher
So that when you finish, you feel certain that you learned it the correct way!
[Egypt]
Yet another example from Egypt, one that we enjoy their company and listening to their perfected recitation
The company of those people is always a source of pleasure and enjoyment
Sheikh Diya'a, introduce yourself!
Diya'a Suleiman Sayid Suleiman, a student of the Qira'at institute of Banha, advanced level
I asked sheikh Diya'a about when he memorized Qur’an so he said
" I was very old when I memorized it!"
So I wondered which age was that old!
He said, " I started only at 9, and finished at 11"
This is the very old age!
- For us, this is still so young - For us, it is considered an old age to start memorizing the Qur’an
May Allah bless you sheikh Diya'a
Let's start this session straight with a test of your recitation
" O Prophet, fight against the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be harsh upon them."
" And their refuge is Hell, and wretched is the destination."
Which one do you want me to recite?
Whichever you want! How many times was this verse mentioned in Qur’an?
It was mentioned in two positions
Which surahs?
Mentioned in Al-Tawbah, and Al-Tahreem!
I want the one from Al-Tawbah [in Egyptian accent]
" They swear by Allah that they did not say [anything against the Prophet] while they had said the word of disbelief and disbelieved after their [pretense of] Islam and planned that which they were not to attain."
"And they were not resentful except [for the fact] that Allah and His Messenger had enriched them of His bounty."
" So if they repent, it is better for them;"
" but if they turn away, Allah will punish them with a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter."
Now this level of perfection that sheikh Diya'a has achieved, didn't just happen by chance
But it is rather a result of tremendous effort, he has put on memorization
I asked him a tough question in Mutashabihat (similar verses), but for him it was a very easy question
Now you'll see more manefistations of perfection!
Sheikh Diya'a, tell me the verse number 92 in Surat Yousuf
" He said, "No blame will there be upon you today. Allah will forgive you; and He is the most merciful of the merciful.""
Verse 80 of Surat Al-Ana'am
- " And his people argued with him. He said, "Do you argue with me concerning Allah while He has guided me?" - Blessed is the name if Allah!
Verse 88 in Suratul- Nisa'a
"What is [the matter] with you [that you are] two groups concerning the hypocrites"
That's the will of Allah, blessed is His name
You've seen with your own eyes what level of perfection he has achieved
This is not a miracle, it is rather a full dedication to Qur’an
Qur’an in his house, at school, at the halaqa, and with his teacher
This is his desire, to be of the relatives to Allah Almighty
To memorize the Qur’an with perfection, and not just memorize like anyone else
If all the printed Qur’an copies were to be lost
If a war was to eliminate all these books - may Allah never allow such day to come
But we are sure that these are the people who would revive it and preserve it for us
I ask Allah Almighty to make many among us be of perfected hufadh
