Hello, smoothie drinkers! Today we are going to talk about the blender brand, Vitamix.
Stay tuned for the advantages and disadvantages of this product and hopefully by the end of
this overview you will know whether or not Vitamix is for you.
What is Vitamix
Vitamix is a popular high performance blender company offering products for all your blending
needs. The blenders are very high quality and appropriate for both personal and business
purposes, offering four series -- the Classic, the Professional, the TurboBlend, and the
Creations.
The founder of the company, William Grover Barnard, was introduced to the blender in
1937 during his work as a pioneer in the health food industry. In 1949, he did a live demonstration
of the blender on television, which went down in history as the first infomercial in the
United States.
Since then, the company has taken off with amazing products that make everything from
smoothies to ice cream to bread dough.
What is so great about it
Number 1 It makes everything! Vitamix blenders are incredibly versatile and will help you
make just about anything you could want, including smoothies, fondues, dips, dressings, sauces,
and soups.
All of the recipes for this awesome food can be found at Vitamix.com. It can be organized
by seasonality, meal type, level of difficulty, dietary interest, or total prep time. It doesn't
get any easier than that, you don't even have to track down recipes!
Number 2 Vitamix blenders are top, top, top of the line. If you are looking for the best
of the best (and the prices to match), Vitamix is the way to go. They are professional grade
blenders that are still appropriate for home use.
Number 3 The warranties are no joke. Depending on the model you go for, the Vitamix warranties
range from 5 to 7 years. A long warranty generally signifies a high quality product. It means
that the company stands behind its products so much that it is willing to replace them
if they die an untimely death.
Number 4 It is great for control freaks. With a Vitamix, you have complete control over
all settings. While the Professional series 750 has 5 pre-programmed settings, all the
blenders have easy to use manual settings that you can set to your exact specifications.
Why isn't it great
Number 1 It's loud. Blenders can break ice into little tiny pieces. As such, you have
to expect they will be loud. A Vitamix has a tendency to be louder than some cheaper
brands. However, this is because it blends, chops, and processes better than other brands
do. So this is a pro and con.
Number 2 A Vitamix is a high quality blender, as I mentioned before. To match it, there
is a high price tag that I will discuss in a little bit. You get what you pay for, so
this can be a pretty expensive piece for home use.
Number 3 Vitamix jars are not dishwasher safe. If you are a hardcore dishwasher user, understand
that you can't just throw these jars in the dishwashers. You will have to wash them by
hand. It will take you approximately 10 seconds. Oh the horror!
How much is it
As mentioned before, the Vitamix has four series -- Classic, Professional, TurboBlend,
and Creations -- each which come in multiple models.
The Classic Series is best for home use to make healthy family meals. It comes in five
models -- Standard, Standard with compact container, Super, Deluxe, and the 6300, which
range in price from $449 - $649.
The Professional Series is best for business use to make restaurant quality dishes. Or
you could always make restaurant quality dishes at home! It comes in seven models -- the CIA,
the 200, the 200 with compact container, the 500, the 300, the 750, and the CIA with compact
container, which range in price from $479 - $689.
The TurboBlend Series is best for home use to make raw, vegan, or vegetarian meals. It
comes in two models -- the two speed and the VS, which cost $399 and $449, respectively.
The Creations Series is best for home use and is the series you will see on the OTHER
home shopping network, QVC. It comes in five models -- the Elite, the II (2), the GC, the
GC with compact container, and the CIA, which range in price from $449 - $557.50.
Now that you know what Vitamix is all about, I hope that you can decide for yourself whether
or not it is the best blending system for you. Please let us know in the comments if
you have ever used a Vitamix or any other blender and what you thought of it. Have a
great day!
