My name is Deron Staten and I'm from Kansas City, Missouri. My major is Nuclear Medicine
and I chose it because of the fact that your able to get hands on with patients and it's
a specialized field that no one else really knows a lot about, so you really get to learn
something and teach others about how nuclear medicine is a good profession for the future.
Oh, I love Mizzou because it's like one big family here uh...it's...everyone always says
it's uh... it's getting a little bit bigger, but still has that hometown feel, everyone
is really connected and the sports are great here.
Nuclear Medicine Technologists take patients and they image them, looking at the physiological
processes. Could be bone, heart, thyroid, pretty much any system in the body and it's
detected about six months prior to x-ray or...uh...CT because those are anatomical. So this way
it helps a lot more when you can't see anything on x-ray, that way you can figure out things
earlier, even with cancer and deal with it sooner.
