In today’s society, there are many forms of stress; work stress, family stress and
with the semester winding down, school stress. For Mental Health Counselor Christy Perez,
she thinks students should keep a few things in mind when it comes to the end of the semester
stressors. Christy Perez-“I think take cares of yourself. I think that’s a big thing.
I think when we get close to finals time we forget to go to sleep and we’re staying
up late and studying but I think it’s important to get good rest and be healthy. Do the exercise
and make sure you’re eating right and even though you’re studying make sure you’re
doing those things but I think taking some breaks and taking good care of yourself is
going to make you more successful in the end.” Students and faculty alike deal with stressors
of all sorts every semester such as research papers , applied projects, the midterms and
of course, the finals. For Assistant Director of Fitness & Wellness at Pitt State, Bryce
Winklepleck knows there’s several things students can do that will carry more of a
benefit than just relieving your stress. Bryce Winklepleck-“The best way to relieve stress
is to be active, or be around friends and here at the Rec Center we offer a lot of that
opportunity. We have you know, cardio machines and strength training and as you can see behind
me, basketball courts. Even if you don’t have time you know, to come to the Rec Center
and workout, is to try and be active on your own. Basically you know, if you’re at home,
do some body weight exercises. You can always do some squats or lunges, or go outside for
a walk.”
